Re: Wine poll
my currently-reading shelf:
i'm not much a wine drinker.. well a drinker in general. and only really like white wine.. i've been on a couple wine tastings/tours and it wasn't the coolest thing but interesting and fun to do with friends.
i wouldn't want one as a gift.
I love wine.
I love wine tours.
Wine is a hobby DH and I picked up together so we really enjoy it.
DH isn't really into wine but maybe I can convince him to take me to a wine tour. That way he can be the designated driver. : )

Are you trying to do tastings so you can enjoy it/learn about it more? or just because?
Actually the way DH and I got into was going on a tour in Italy with a driver so we didn't have to worry about it. Since then we've done Napa, Sonoma, and Paso Robles in CA and Woodinville here.
The Woodinville one we hired a company to be our driver and it was perfect, so that we could both enjoy it.
This! Except I wish we'd picked up said hobby while on a trip to Italy.
I've always enjoyed wine, but it wasn't really a hobby till I met H. My uncle is a winemaker in eastern WA and I've learned a lot just from listening to him talk about his work.

Oooh which winery?
Basalt Cellars. His estate vineyard and winery are in Clarkston, WA but most of the grapes he uses come from Walla Walla - area vineyards.

my currently-reading shelf:
I've never actually been on a wine tour, so I didn't do the poll, but I would love to go on one. A family friends owns the winery that we got married at in the Chehalis area, and every year she invites us to the wine tour down there, but we're always doing something else those weekends
I think it would be great to go on a tour as part of a trip (Napa Valley, Italy etc. 
)
I grew up in wine country in California (used to baby-sit and coach for one of the region's biggest winemaker's families), and DH and I got married at a winery, so needless to say, we like wine
. We're trying to get much more into it.
My favorite conversation that happened at our holiday party:
DH: "You guys have a wine problem, right? We'd like to develop one, have a book you'd recommend?"
Our friends (one of whom works for a winery): "Most definitely, check out "The Wine Bible." Also, you're coming with us to Walla-Walla next year.
DH: "Awesome."
