Clicky Poll: NYE - Love it or Hate it?
Re: Clicky Poll: NYE - Love it or Hate it?
I've never much cared for all the hype around NYE. I voted "curled up on the sofa" because I prefer a low-key evening with either DH or a couple of friends. But what we *actually* end up doing usually involves lighting sparklers and doing a "Coundown to 9:00" for the kids and some friends. They go to bed then the adults stay up to midnight.
It used to be my most favorite holiday - I did it up big time every year. Then I had kids. I tried being away from them one year and felt horribly guilty for ringing in the New Year without them. I normally don't feel guilty getting a sitter, but for some reason, it just felt wrong on NYE.
We have been doing fun parties with family/friends lately, but this year it will just be the four of us at home with champagne/sparkling cider and Kinect. J can't tolerate firework smoke and since he had a case of mono recently, we decided against having people over. He seems to be fine now, but the day before NYE is a bit late to invite people over IMO. We *might* go to the Sugarland Town Square celebration...
We just had this discussion last night. He wants "party whoooooo" and I want "curled up on the couch toasting in the comfort of my pjs".
Its just a change of the date. ::shrugs:: I've never been super big on the celebration. I either stay home or hang out with family.
The past few years we've hosted a party with family and close friends and it was AWESOME. I don't like the huge, dressed up formal party thing, but I do like to celebrate with a drink or two or twelve.
This year we're going to dinner with friends and that's about it. G might make it up until midnight, but it will most likely be DH and I toasting with sparkling cider. Next year I hope to be able to host a small get together with family and friends.
Will you be calling me for TEXAS NEW YEAR ala calling Michigan for MI NEW YEAR??
I can if you'd like. It won't be nearly as awesome as me calling MI though, because I'll be sober. Next year should be pretty awesome though. I have LOTS of soberness to make up for.
I used to go all out and get dressed up and hit some places in downtown when I was single but now I am perfectly happy hanging with my boys and ordering in and watching movies.
I think this year we are going to have dinner alone and then come home and hang with my inlaws and boys:)

Ehh, I'm indifferent to it. I used to party it up back in the old days of being single & childfree.
I've been invited to a few parties, but I'm not one to be out on the road with all the drunkards that late.
DH likes to light fireworks with the neighbors, but I'm not too big a fan of fireworks in general, as they make me nervous.
I'm pretty content just staying in and counting down & drinking champagne with my fam & the neighbors. Totally low key.
I'll be working in the hospital with all the drunks and idiots this NYE.
Hope everyone stays safe!
I don't care for NYE.
Amateur night when ppl who never drink get wasted, puke in nice restaurants and then drive their cars. Every place has a fixed menu that they cooked at 2 that afternoon and kept under heat lamps. Every bar, even the neighborhood dive, has a cover.
I like getting together with friends, but I like doing that all the time.
I find it never really lives up to the hype. The best NYE I ever had was me, DH and one other couple and we cooked steak, lobster, fondue at our house and played games.
I voted casual with friends, but I really like fancy get togethers at someone's house with good food.
This year though, I'll probably be doing laundry while watching football. We're aiming to get Tracey in bed at a reasonable time then we'll cook lamb chops

~~PGAL/PAL Always Welcome!~~
My birthday is NYD, so I have always celebrated NYE with lots of fun!
This year me and DH went to Benihanas and then went to SugarLand's Town Center.
But I have done it big at San Luis, and I have hosted my own get-togethers, or go to friend's get-togethers.
Growing up my parents had a gathering every year.
We get a babysitter every year (my mom), and enjoy the night
