2012 Resolutions/Hopes?

Since it's only days away, does anyone have any interesting resolutions or hopes for the new year?

I rarely make resolutions, because I never keep them. But I am hoping to start saving money by bringing lunches at least twice per week.  Oh, and cutting out the daily lattes.  $5 a morning adds up!  And I'm hoping my husband and I both have new jobs. (Quickly, in his case, since his current job ends in April.)

I'm boring. Someone else must have something more interesting to share! Stick out tongue

Re: 2012 Resolutions/Hopes?

  • I don't usually do resolutions either.  I actually tried last year and set the bar low with just one to-do (hire a financial planner) and yet I still failed Stick out tongue.
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • To sound cliche, I am hoping/planning to start working out more, eating better.....aka lose weight.

Being that I'm hoping to be a mommy, I'm really wanting to make changes in my life (spending $) and such, that will help me be what I think will help me be more prepared for a family.

Hopes.....well, let's see....get pregnant Wink We know know that we have to do IVF, so that's a big step.  Consultation is next week, and I'm ready!!!!

And I really want to find a job (currently doing part-time temp work), in the Food & Beverage or Fashion industry that I enjoy and know that I will be there long term.

Good luck 5000C for you and the hubby!

  • I don't really have resolutions... But I definitely know I want to keep up with WW to lose a little more weight.

  • Once I know what my raise is, I am going to put more into savings every week. I'm going to pretend I didn't get a raise, essentially.

I WANT to start running. Now actually doing it is another thing.

I'd like to say buy a house, but since we aren't really in any rush, it's not really a resolution, but maybe a slight hope :)

  • Money Related: Pay off More Debt, Increase Savings and Retirement, Start Investing

Work Related: Get a new social work job or promotion

Fitness: Hike a new mountain, be able to do push-ups again (had a broken wrist this summer), bike a century ride

Personal: Stop biting nails.  It's gross.  Find a church in our area.

Family: Adopt or at least get approved for adoption.

  • My resolution is to finally finish my graduate program at BU. I think I will be finished in May! : )

I may get a weekly manicure to stop biting my nails, but that can get expensive! I am a former smoker, so the nail biting I think is my substitute. Also, Dh and I plan on church shopping.

Very cool!  With the issues we now know we have in regards to having kids, I definately see us adopting in the future too!

    Good luck!

I did that after I got engaged- it did work! But it does get expensive- even if you can find a $12/week place.

I found Nailtiques Formula #2 works really well to harden my nails and make them strong but it also hardens my cuticles, which are MY week spot. My nails suck anyway, I have to keep them short because they are so thin and just bend back and forth naturally, but one slightly ragged cuticle will set me off for hours. I have tried everything under the sun to help mositurize them but have found the only thing that keeps me from going all Girl, Interrupted on them is if I get them groomed very often.

Congratulations on knowing what route you're going to take! Are you going to foster to adopt?

No, we are looking to adopt a child who is legally free for adoption.  I know I could not handle fostering and have them return home.  We hope to adopt a baby, but lately I have been considering adopting a preschooler.  We may even be open to a sibling set - an infant and a preschooler.  We will see what is in the cards for us.

Have you contacted MARE? We wanted to adopt through DCF before DS was born, and have spoken with them before- they are very very helpful! Have you visited the adoption board on TB?
