So this guy reached out to me on POF. We messaged back and forth a couple of times within a couple of hours. He said he tried chatting with me but I was on my phone app so it wasn't working.
Anyway, he gave me his cell number to text. I told him I don't feel comfortable giving my number out to everyone right away because it is the only phone I have and I have a daughter who reads, etc.
He responsed that he doesn't get on the computer at night and that he was sorry I had bad experiences with giving guys my number (um, not the case) and that our ways of engaging are different and would work out.
What do you make of this? I was a little taken aback and just replied " Um OK, good luck. Happy New Year."
Re: Online dating question
My take is that guys who do online dating expect the sun, moon, stars, and jupiter, too, and somehow think that the tiniest of things mean the end of the world and that they "deserve" more and move on.
This is why many, many guys are single and have been on the same dating sites for YEARS.
Wait. I'm confused. He said it WOULD work out or it WOULDN'T work out?
What ever happened to talking on the phone???? All this anonymous crap and hiding behind electronics bugs me. If you think he has potential, why not call him from a private number (*67 him)? All this back and forth texting and emailing crap seems like a waste of time for most people. People can act and be totally different online and on text. And I'm not talking out of my ass here. I met DH on eHarmony.
Very true. I was on Match.com on and off for years. I met several guys who acted one way online and on the phone, but differently in person. It got to the point where I hated being on Match because you never knew what a particular guy would be like.
I would tread carefully and move slowly. Only do whatever you feel comfortable with.
