I'm looking for new tried and true recipes.

no, i still haven't cooked that dalh or dall or dal that we talked about!
my friend spent 3 months in india in the summer and 2 at the beginning of the year and she told me to buy cumin and turmeric.. which i did.. i tried them and i can't get into them. cumin is what i would use if i didn't have chili powder..
i've only tried a couple indian dishes and i don't think i'm the biggest fan, but i'd love to try more!
