New Yorkers, pls rec a restaurant close to Rockefeller or Macy's

Hi ladies,

heading to see Santa and the xmas lights in NY. Any recs for a family/kid friendly restaurant around Macy's, Time Square or Rockefeller Center? We love Italian.

TIA :)

Re: New Yorkers, pls rec a restaurant close to Rockefeller or Macy's

  • Carmine's or John's Pizzeria?

They're both very touristy and huge so you won't get an authentic Italian or NY experience, but the areas you'll be in are very touristy and don't have many kid-friendly Italian places, so there isn't much to choose from.  Food at both places is pretty good.

  • Between Macy's and Rockefeller Center you're covering a pretty big area.  I would suggest some of the Italian places on 9th Ave (less expensive, thus more family friendly) or Restaurant Row (46 btw 9th and 8th aves.) I'd suggest Terazza Toscana on 9th Ave and 50th St. or also Becco on Restaurant Row.
  • I love Becco but I don't think it's very kid friendly - only because it's tiny and very crowded (or at least it was when we were there)

  • I may be too late but we ate at TSQ Brassire in Times Square the other day.  It wasn't as touristy as I expected.  The food portions were unexpectedly huge & the prices were pretty reasonable for NYC.  They have an ecclectic menu.
