Help me decide (poll and PIPs)

I am desperately indecisive lately--and DH is NOT helping (sure "Pick whatever you like honey" is great until I actually WANT his opinion--then it's useless).

I have decided to go with a Very Hungry Caterpillar theme for LA's bday.  Now, I am down to these options for outfits (because I am cheesy and her outfit must match her theme).

Option 1:  A reverse knot dress.  This is just an example--I will probably only use 2 fabrics since she is little.  Picture it with long sleeves and tights :)  Nix the apron too for this one (since it will get in the way I think).

Option 2:  An applique shirt (it will be long sleeve and the number would be in the multicolored dot fabric) with little skirt and tights of course

Option 3:  A simple pillowcase dress with sweet applique, long sleeve shirt and tights :)

  • I said the pillow case dress only because my mind went to the simplicity aspect (for making it). You can always make an applique of the hungry caterpillar yourself. IE, get the printable iron on transfers and voila instant hungry caterpillar dress!

I will admit though my favorite is the first one.

  • I think #2 would be the easiest to run around in, though they are all adorable!

  • I voted for the first one because I don't think I have seen L in a dress like that before and it is cute.

  • I voted for the appliqued shirt and skirt-- too cute! I'm doing the same theme for DS1's 2nd birthday. I'm sure you have tons of ideas, but here is a link to my Pinterest board full of VHC stuff!

  • I saw the peasant dress in my search and I really like it.  I'm just no sure it works with layering as much as the other options (since it will be cold in February--even here!).  I could make it long sleeve I guess....

On another forum I asked, someone brought up the point that there is an "age limit" on some of these clothes and that I might want to make the more "little girl" styles now while LA will still wear them.  She'll eventually have an opinion about what I dress her in (I just really hope her opinion matches mine--but knowing my kid...well, that isn't going to happen!)

Part of me is drawn to the knot dress simply because I have never made one so the process of making it will be more fun and mentally stimulating.  Plus, as franklintn pointed out, LA has nothing like it--decisions, decisions!

  • I think I like the first one best. Although the 2nd one is maybe more practical! And the 3rd easiest to make!..although I wouldn't actually know as Ive never made a dress before!...Id pick something that she can wear again and again though... :)
