Any other options besides Comcast/XFinity?

I know this was posted awhile ago but I never really paid attention...until we got our Comcast bill yesterday which warned us of another flipping fee increase. Are there any other options for cable/internet in this area? Our bill is going to be around $200 after this increase, We have cable with HD, two converter boxes and internet.

Re: Any other options besides Comcast/XFinity?

  • That's actually a huge reason we dropped cable, the constant increases and the most we ever paid for cable was less than $60!   My answer would be no cable and streaming Netflix. $7.99 a month.  Haven't had had cable for a year and a half and have yet to miss it even a little bit.

  • We also dropped Comcast because we were just tired of them.  We have an antennae now so we get about 10 or so HD channels.  We don't miss cable at all!

If you still want a ton of channels, i've heard that satellite is much more affordable.

  • I called and talked to the department to cancel.... they rebundled me for another 2 years at a cheaper rate than I was paying.  I was ready to get a Roku and Hulu Plus anyways, but DH wasn't quite there.  If you call and they aren't helpful, hang up and try again with a different person.

  • For Internet, my parents have Skybeam, which is satellite. Pretty reliable so far.
