CD Momma's

I think we're throwing in the towel. Sad

We haven't really used them for Nolan in over a month (pure laziness on my part) and the thought of THREE kids in CD's and all of that laundry is overwhelming. We haven't 100% made a decision, but we're leaning towards selling our stash and going back to disposables for all of the kids.

If we do decide to do this, any ideas on how to sell our stash? Craigslist, the "swap spot", anyone here interested? Also, what do used CD's usually go for? We have around 22-24 one size pocket diapers with inserts. Mostly BG 4.0 snaps, 1 Rumparooz, and a few blueberry's. All were bought new with the exception of a couple of the blueberry's that I bought online from that site that sells "imperfect" diapers. The normal price is around $18/diaper so what do you think we could expect to sell them for?

Re: CD Momma's

  • I'm sorry you're throwing in the towel. I'm not sure what you could get for them because I sometimes see people selling them for way more than I would pay for used CDs. If I buy used CDs, it has to be cheaper than the best deal I could get on new CDs. For example... when I bought my BG 4.0s, it was the Buy 5 Get 1 Free deal, plus I was able to use a 20% off coupon, and get free shipping. With all that, I paid just under $12 each. I have definitely seen people sell used BGs for more than that but I would never buy them because I was able to buy brand new ones for less, KWIM?

  • I would probably post them on Craigslist, the CD board on the bump, and also at diaperswappers.com. As far as price, I don't really have any suggestions since we bought all of ours new, but I would lurk on the diaperswappers forums for a bit to get a feel for how much they go for. I would think $10-12, but that is just a guess.

On a different note, I'm sorry you're giving it up! But obviously it is something you have to be committed to in order to make it work, so if you know you won't be up for the extra laundry, I don't think there is anything I could do to convince you otherwise!

  • If I knew I could count on some help, I think we would for sure do it... but even right now, I can't really do laundry (the carrying & bending) and the diapers just weren't getting washed regularly. And if they did, I had to remind and beg practically. So I know that once the twins come, I'm going to be insanely busy and will still need someone else to do the laundry... and I just don't see it happening on a daily basis. Meaning, we'd have to buy disposables anyway for back-up and that's just a pain.

I'm personally really torn about it. I don't want to give it up and I feel like we wouldn't need too many more diapers to make it work, so the $$ aspect is definitely good. But DH feels otherwise. Ahh, decisions!

Colleen, how many diapers do you have? Also, I paged you a few days ago about your BF pillow... do you like it? Where did you end up ordering from?

  • If you're torn, don't sell yet. Even just doing a couple a day will save a few dollars. Also, I can't even tell you how cute a fluffy bum under a dress is.

That's true! I think I should try a little harder to talk him into it. Maybe if I compile an "estimated" cost difference list it will do the trick!

  • Do you have a cloth diapering group in your area? If so, I would see if you could sell through them. We have on in Des Moines and we have a facebook page and people are constantly buying and selling! :-) I could ask our Des Moines group how much they would sell your dipes for.

Sorry you're throwing in the towel. Have you thought about a cloth diaper service? Basically the drop off, pick-up, and wash all of your dipes for you! Pretty rad!
