When do you know when it's time to part ways with your job (excluding personal reasons)?
I am a police officer and I believe deeply in what I do but the job is becoming more and more difficult on me. I am bringing my frustrations home and I don't want to drive my husband crazy. I work very hard and do not get rewarded for my work (with specialty positions or credit from my bosses) while others do not work hard at all and are rewarded with the specialty positions I most want. I am suffering from physical ailments as a result of the work related stress and I'm not really sure I'm happy with it anymore. Am I just being a baby? Do I need to toughen up?
At what point do people say "enough is enough"?
Re: Work Woes
This.
Everything you stated is a good reason to part ways with your job - even if you believe in what you do, it is still too much for you based on what you said. When you start bringing it home or are unable to leave it at the office door it's time to start thinking about moving on. As for getting rewarded for your work and those others who don't work as hard getting rewarded - that's a complaint at my own job as well as that of many of my friends. You sadly will find that in many places.
The mere fact that you are suffering physically due to work related things is a sign to move on. Could you do an internal transfer?
Good luck!
