DH and I got a gift card from the inlaws for the Ritz Carlton. Based on the prices I've looked at it will probably pay for a few (2-3) nights at most locations.
Any favorite locations you've been to? We're on the East Coast and probably need to stay in the US/Carribean/Mexico/Europe. We have small kids and can't take a super long trip. I'm thinking of using it in November for my birthday and would probably want to go somewhere warm.
Any favorite locations?

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.

Yes, this one, it's an amazing resort, and Maui is heaven on earth...
I've stayed at the ones in St Thomas, South Beach, Philly, San Juan, Dallas and New Orleans. IMO they are all great. If you only get 2/3 nights I would choose a city/island you would want to visit and then go from there.
The only one we've been to was in Laguna Niguel, CA. We loved it. I was newly pregnant with DD1 at the time so I can't say how kid-friendly the hotel is, but the location is great, a short drive to Laguna Beach which I think is a great little town (MTV notwithstanding). We've been back with the kids but stayed in different hotels, always in late March/early April. It's too cold then to swim at the beach (and I imagine it'd be similar in November), but we've been able to play in the sand and go in the pool and take trips to the San Diego Zoo. One of these years we'll take them to Legoland too.
We just went to Hawaii with our kids in October, and imo, it's a long flight to take with kids and probably not worth it if you're not able to take an extended trip.
1. Where I was married, at the Ritz Carlton Manalapan, FL.
2. Laguna Niguel
You guys are killing me. Ughhh.
THE RITZ-CARLTON, LAGUNA NIGUEL
Sarasota is lovely, but I'd just recommend that because it's in my hometown and it would be a nice trip.
I also really like the Naples properties (the only city to have two) because there is a beach hotel and a golf hotel. You can take a shuttle between the two for both amenities.
I've also heard good things about Amelia Island.
Enjoy your trip!
