Ok so my H tends to drop things quite a bit! He's already killed one camera, two ipods, and a tablet while overseas. I want to send him a new camera and I'm leaning towards a shockproof one this time. Has anyone else gotten one that's better then the rest? I'm not really camera savvy so they all look the same to me just with different price tags
Re: Shockproof Camera Help
Sounds like Mr. Butterfingers needs some nonslip gloves.
Really, though, my Olympus Tough is awesome and DH has taken his on a deployment and numerous, numerous TDYs around the world, including underwater when he has to go to classes at the schoolhouse.
I have the Olympus Stylus 850 SW. It's good for drops up to 5 feet. It's also waterproof and freeze proof, which is also supposed to mean that it's really good at not letting in dirt, dust, etc because it's so sealed up.
I've had it almost 5 years and it's still holding up great. I got it for the same reason you're looking into them- I broke 3 or 4 cameras because I kept dropping them. This one has taken a beating and it's still doing really well. I like that my toddler can use/play with it and I don't have to worry about her breaking it.
Also, on an unrelated note, we met a guy on our honeymoon in Hawaii who had one and he was taking photos underwater in the ocean. He said he used it underwater daily with no problem.
Haha i told him this would be the LAST one! What I get a kick out of though is he's never dropped his EVO. You would think that thing would have been the first to go since its smaller and thinner....MEN!
I agree with others about the Olympus stylus tough cameras! They are great and hold up to just about anything!
