an angel appeared in our mail box
frank's dad is an animal lover. he is a really strong man like my h but you never, ever see him cry. until one of his dog's dies and then he is a wreck. we went to a party last night and i was surprised he didn't say anything to us about iowa, but know it can be uncomfortable and thought maybe he thought we would start bawling or something.
we enjoyed ourselves at the party but on the way home this dread of coming home came over us. knowing our kitty wouldn't be there, and just the reminder of things after getting our minds off it for a little while was just "ugh".
when we got home i went to get the mail. inside was a note from h's dad that said "here is a little something to help cover iowa's expenses" with a check that almost covers the entire amount of iowa's treatment, which was substantial. i was so incredibly touched by that. this check now made it a lot easier for my h to finally decide what he wanted to do with her body. the emergency vet had given us five days to decide and cremation is expensive, so while he wanted her, he was debating about spending the money since we had already spent so much.
it was a kindness i will never forget.
