New Years' Resolutions?

I have two.

1) Get my skin under control!  I have had awful skin since I hit puberty. and proactiv stopped working - I started it right after I got engaged.  I'm still trying to find a skin care regiment that works!

2) Lose 25lbs.  That's only 2 or so lbs a month, and that is do-able.  I just weighed myself and I'm only 6lbs off my heaviest, which means I've gained 5lbs since school started!  I worked out for 45 mins before and I plan to do so every day this break.  It's still not where I want to be for the long run, but I'll definitely be healthier, and it's a reasonable goal.

RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.

Re: New Years' Resolutions?

  • 1) Journal at least a few times a week. I feel like I have a terrible memory. There are so many things that I don't remember that I wish I could. Also, I think it's great to reflect on life. AND my awesome Secret Santa got me a beautiful journal to use!! Thanks, Cari :)

    2) Start blogging on my teacher blog again. Reflection is such an important part of teaching, and I feel like I've neglected it during my first semester as a teacher. I did a pretty good job of blogging during student teaching and it was really fun to go back through and read all of those recently. I just worry about sharing too much information on the blog. I've removed my name from the blog, but all of my comments have my name for some reason. I need to figure that out...

    3) I would love to say lose some weight. I really, really, really want to make this happen, but I have absolutely no drive to follow through with anything. I've put on about 15 pounds in a year. And I am completely out of shape. I hate the way I look. I've got a closet full of cute clothes that are now too snug. It's so depressing. My husband needs to do the same. I feel like we need to work together to achieve our fitness goals, but we always fall through. I simply feel like I don't have enough time. By the time I get home from work at 7 or 8 in the evening, I'm too tired to do anything. He, on the other hand, buys into fads and does well with them, but then just stops and gains all of the weight back.

  • -Lose the remaining 20 lbs. of baby weight

-Train for and run a 10k in May

-Set up an automatic retirement savings with Edward Jones to put as much as possible into our Roth IRAs

  • Mine is too lose weight too.  I also have a closet full of too snug clothes.  I should join WW again but I usually only do it for three weeks then stop and then do it again a month or two later.  I am also exhausted when I get home.  I am thinking of doing a goal of work out two times a week. That seems doable.  Now to figure out an eating goal.  I know eat less and more healthy. DH doesn't like veggies so it is hard.

  • - lose the remaining 8lbs I gained after my knee surgery last Dec. I had packed on 10 extra lbs between the surgery and getting pregnant, and after giving birth I lost 2 of those 10 lbs (+ all my baby weight, thanks to my gestational diabetes diet....) but these other 8 are trying hard to stick around.

    - stay ahead on my school work. Necessary now that I will be working PT and a FT mommy!!

  • 1. Lead a balanced life as much as possible-work out, eat healthy, keep up with house and school work, socialize. This is really my overall goal. Over the past year I have really let stress get to me (weight gain) and haven't been keeping up with things that I like to do.

We'll also be selling our current home, buying a new (new to us) home, and TTC later in the year. I'll also be finishing my Master's Degree. There is a lot to look forward to in 2012!

  • 1. Lose some weight- I am starting on the 17-day diet tomorrow (my brother lost 40 lbs on it and looks great).

    2. Stay on top of paperwork/finances.  By next month last years NY resolution will be completed (paying off credit cards).  I am so excited it's almost done!!

    3. Not freak out about work as much... My job got significantly harder last March,  and I am trying to mimic what someone with 20+ years of experience was doing after only being there 6 months.  Hopefully I'll have a better handle on it this spring :)

    4. Keep up with household chores. DH is a neatfreak, I am not.  By neat I really mean anti-clutter.   When we got home yesterday, he had everything unpacked & put away within 2 hours....  all I did was move my suitcases into the bedroom :)  I know it drives him nuts, too!
