New Years Resolutions

Do you all set these? Anyone care to share?

I don't have any, other to kick any Mayan ass I need to to survive up in this b*tch.

Re: New Years Resolutions

  • Not really. I never stick to them. I'm going to keep up on my working out. I think it's the only thing keeping me sane through all this stress.

  • I don't know that it's a resolution to keep doing something, but it's my goal to continue with WW this year, to finally start TTC, and to continue getting super organized.  The basement purge/reorg has been incredibly gratifying.  I've made a whole list of other "projects" that I want to accomplish.  Organize this drawer, clean out that closet, etc.  I'm going to try to tackle one of the items a week until I've cleared the list.

  • hmmm, christin, I am not sure why I had you on the no baby list! Yay for 2012 shredder!

Yeah, I never stick to them either. I should probably work out after the baby.

So how are things going. It sounds like you are ready to not be at home. Are the kids at school today?

  • To survive the first six months with twins.  That's all I got.

  • I think I was unsure for a long time Winged.  But last year I started really getting the urge, but felt too unhealthy at the size I was at.  That was sort of what finally motivated me to get in better shape.  Now my problem is that I'm scared how pregnancy would impact all the progress I've made, and I'd like to keep losing weight, but I'm torn on how much longer I want to put babymaking off.  I think I'm just scared of change and making excuses.

Things are okay. One minute I feel like we can work it out, the next I want to run out the door screaming. But we are talking about things more so that's good. I will try to hop on gchat later if you're around to talk.

We are all home today. Poor Maggie is laboring on the toilet to poop.  She's been there over an hour. It's just been a incredibly emotional week, between all the together time and Maggie not sleeping. She finally went to bed without screaming last night and didn't cry out overnight so there is progress. It was the first halfway decent nights sleep I've had in weeks.

  • I can understand those concerns. We had a couple of years break in between my WW loss and TTC but it concerned me. I think there is some kind of good karma to bigger chicks in pregnancy. I gained less that every tiny thin person I know and I lost all my weight within 6 weeks afterward. Granted, things are flabby, but let's get real, they weren't high and tight before the kids.
  • You should still be able to work out, and just make sure you eat healthy.  You have the foundation, so it will be easier to get back on the band wagon after you have the baby.

  • C, I understand your concerns too. I was at goal weight when I got pregnant the first time,  I found it easy to lose the weight after Maggie. I was 10 pounds heavier when pregnant with Owen and still am trying to lose that last 10. But with exercise I feel like I look about the best I have, even with the extra lbs.

My mother says she feels like she survived the first six months eating dry Cheerios out of the box, then once we could sit on our own she felt like everything changed for the better.

As for resolutions, I want to make sure I continue some good habits from the last year:  diligent meal planning so I can reduce our grocery bill and avoid takeout, packing my lunch, and saving more money.

I was not as good about getting back in the exercise habit, but I've improved a little in the last few months.  I was a six day a week exerciser before Ian was born, and now it''s two days a week if I'm lucky.

  • I have resolved to write more and to do at least one thing a day that feels productive.  Amorphous enough?

  • Get a new job where my boss doesn't walk all over my a**.

  • Finally use the apartment complex gym.

Build up my savings again now that I can.

Pay off my student loans faster.

Not be hospitalized at any point.

Husbands should be like Kleenex: Soft, strong, and disposable.
  • Lose the last 10 of baby weight plus another 10-15.

Save more and pay down more debt.

    Vacation.

work on the list of home improvement projects we need to do.

  • Spend January and February getting back into shape and dropping the weight I gained over the past few months, then starting the TTC process. Otherwise, we've got a bunch of house related goals - decorate the living room, organize the toys, finish up the master bdrm.

  • Lose 15 lbs (like always)

House projects (master bed, C's room, dining room, refinish hardwood)

Do a little cleaning daily so it's not a unmanageable project all at once later

Work on organization so everything has a place and cleaning is faster

Work up the cajones to quit my job this summer

  • I forgot to add that I want to take some steps towards becoming a postpartum doula so I can quit this job that I've recently lost my passion for.

  • Just basically trying to live better this year.

Eat better, start saving money and paying down bills. Be more active. I'm not doing anything very specific. Last year I had a specific list and it makes me feel like poop that I didn't achieve all of them.

Maybe pick up a hobby so I can finally make some friends. I have been here for 6 months and still have made mo friends I can call or hang out with. I'm lonely.

  • Financially, starting in March we are going to start setting aside a certain amount of money every month so that in a few years when we buy a bigger house we will have more money saved plus be used to having that money out of our monthly expenses (to prepare us for bigger mortgage payment).

I would also like to get more organized at home and at work. But I say this every year.

I don't do resolutions. I started Jenny Craig beginning of Dec so my only goal is to get to my personal weight goal. But, that wasn't for the new year, it was for my big ass.
  • I'd like to be more focused at work and to be more disciplined about working out regularly. I came a long way wrt to fitness in 2011, I just think I could do so much more with consistency.

Speaking of consistency, I want to work on being more consistent with Connor. I also want to expand his diet so that he doesn't turn into that teenager/adult who eats 3 things that are all junk.

Of course I also want to travel more this year and change my name and all that too, but those aren't really resolutions.

  • I am going to make the same resolution I make at the beginning of almost every month. Lose the last 5-10 pounds to get to goal weight. But now I have a time limit. I have to do this before we do IVF in March.

I also resolve not to wither into a pile of funk if IVF doesn't work out. I resolve not to wait 6 million years before deciding what to do next if it doesn't work.

I want to buy a house this year - hopefully before July when the lease is up. I resolve to have a house with at least one closet that fits more than 1/4 of my clothing at once, and if I have a garage, I want the garage door opener to work at least 80% of the time.

  • Get back on WW and lose 15 pounds.

Not miss a day with P365.

No more buying breakfast....bring in a yogurt and drink the free coffee.  Should save a little money and contribute to the weight loss.

Keep my email inboxes a lot cleaner.

Take a big vacation (Spain in the spring).

Get knocked up with Numero Dos.

  • Lots of house stuff: clean/organize the basement, curtains for the living room, finish painting. There's so much more, but I know it won't happen.

Lose weight until I get pregnant, then try to stay pregnant longer than 6 months with no bed rest.

    Get the girl potty trained.

  • DH needs to lose 10lbs, I need to lose a few more by Sept to fit into a dress for my brothers wedding. I'm also going meatless for Lent. Last year I gave up chips and only cheated three times, so I think I can do it better this year. Also, trying to get DH to cook more and not hit fast food drive through Friday nights after we're both exhausted from the week.

  • 2012 is the Year of Bobo - I've got good plans/goals for the two of us. Some related goals just for me, getting more canine/animal education under my belt.

I'm inching toward a set reading time for me and Matt during the day. Mostly driven by my desire to be able to sit and read a damn book for 30+ minutes during the day, but also just to get him in the habit of curling up with a book during the day. We are just a few days in and he is already asking in the morning about "reading time" so yay, just gotta stick with it.

Managed to lose 5 lbs during the holidays (!), so just going to continue and knock out the last 4-5 lbs.

I told Sebastian the other day that now that our 5-year plan to move is coming to fruition, we need Another Big Plan. We've talked about a farm animal sanctuary so maybe we'll start cobbling together a long-term plan for that. Sebastian was wondering if maybe perhaps we could actually get ourselves moved and establish his remote working situation before starting something new. hahaha! But - NO! :)
