Is anyone here? Hello? Echo!!!!
One bit of good news: I thought we had basketball tomorrow but we don't!!!! Ya-hoooooo!!!!!
Today, I got up, got ready, and left. While Bill was still in his bathrobe. He doesn't have to go to work today. Usually, it's the other way around. I didn't like this unfamiliar feeling.
While I had great success at the optometrist's office, I still can't get the contacts in by myself. It doesn't help that Rascal follows me into the bathroom and tries to bump me (to get attention) while I'm trying to do this.
Speaking of Rascal, I swear he is channeling some of our other cats. He does things that Clark's cat used to do (drinks water out of the dirty dishes in the kitchen sink, although I catch him most of the time), he demands water out of whatever faucet we're near (even if he just had some in the other bathroom) just like Socks used to and this morning he laid down in the bottom of the wet shower just like my cat Moe does.
Re: Monday?
I am here until noon then I am going to try and get an eye appointment to get new glasses. I got my last (which was also my first) pair in a rush at a one hour shop in the mall because I had a nasty infection and could no longer wear contacts. I am excited to get a new and hopefully better fitting pair.
Matt got his glasses in on Friday and I thought it would take some time to get used to but I find them oddly sexy.
Matt doesnt have work today and while I was giving him a little cuddle before I left it reminded me for a second of when he was unemployed and made me feel sick to my stomach.
Bobbileigh,
It's funny that you mention new glasses changing your guy because I hated Bill's glasses when we first got married. He had safety glasses (just like his dad) even though they were unnecessary (his dad worked with chemicals, he does not). Right after we got married, we went and got glasses and it changed how he felt about himself as well. He got lots of compliments about them and his sister raved about them. I think he looks nerdy cute in his rectangular glasses.
I have a phobia about Bill being out of work, mainly because he makes so much more than I do. He mortgage alone would take up half of my pay check. Thankfully, we don't have any car payments but we're going to need new cars soon (by the end of 2013 more than likely). He has at least a year's salary saved up but I still worry about us trying to make it on my salary. And, I'm not even sure what's going to happen to my position next year. We had to cut $7.5 million this year and next year we have to find another $8 million. So, even though my program is growing, I'm not sure if it's going to be around next year.
I'm here all day - while Andrew and Cadence are warm sleeping in their beds...
Jealous.

Bill got up with me but I wouldn't be surprised to find out that he went back to sleep.
H and I both have today off, thankfully. I hate the days when he has off work and I don't; all day, I feel like I'm missing out on something fun (even though he's probably just sleeping in and then studying).
I've had a minor sore throat and occasional cough since NYE. Right away, I got one of those medicines that claim to help you get over a cold faster (Zicam) and since I've been taking it, the symptoms haven't gotten any worse. It's like I just stalled it or something. I'm hoping I'm not just prolonging the inevitable. I'm a big baby when I'm feeling lousy, and I always eat everything in sight (thinking any food is comfort food and it'll make me feel better). I'm trying to eat less, and eat healthier so this would be particularly bad timing.
Matt asked me if I would come back to bed when I get home and I just laughed at him and then said no.
Julie, Matt has had the same glasses since highschool (horrible I know) and they are very thin framed glasses. His new ones are very bold and thick framed and I thought I would hate them so I am very happy. Also, I am jealous of your savings, we are just starting to build ours up and I never feel secure because if something happened we would be screwed.
Well, this was all on Bill. I lived hand to mouth when I was on my own.
After 5 days off, my cube is the last place I want to be. The night before coming back to work is always filled with anxiety and after a long break like this, I hardly get any sleep at all. It's going to be rough not having a nap.
Marcus discovered that show on A&E where they take troubled teens and let them see jail life. He's DVRing, too. I can't stand that show. TOO much yelling for my tastes.
My left leg/hip area is still hurting...I think it's been 2-3 weeks now. It's always been tolerable until last night. I didn't know if I was going to be able to walk out of the store. Thankfully it's not as bad this morning but holy crap.
I'm here.
My back has been hurting all morning. I'm pretty sure I'm coming down with a cold, and this is not cool.
How was everyones New Years?
Really? I love that show. I'm glad to see people taking a different approach to out of control teens. I really like that they do the follow up later to see if the experience helped or not.

Chris and I are both off today. I am so not ready to go back to work tomorrow. I let myself sleep in too late the past couple of days, which will make it hard to get back on my regular schedule!
Julie- I am also jealous of the savings! We really need to build ours up!

Aaaaand, just kidding. We're doing a half day.
Apparently, they didn't realize today was a federal holiday so they're letting us go!

I can see the benefits of it and hope the experience puts the teens on the straight and narrow. I feel like an old grandma telling the kids to turn the music down and I never thought I would be that way, lol.
Hope you get to feeling better, Danielle.
NYE was fantastic. We picked up our anniversary cake from Colleen, went to Simply Fondue for the first time and went home and watched movies that evening.
Ack. I wish they would do that here. Fat chance. They'll never release these people without proper warning.
We're home and tired. I'm glad Jack doesn't start school 'til tomorrow so we could have a lazy morning and family time. Granted, now we're working while he's playing one of the new games he got for Christmas, but still... we're together.
I was so glad to be off that plane last night and to know that we don't have to get on one again for a while... but here I am, looking at ways we could fit a Vegas trip into the schedule.
Today is my last day at home. I may not get out of my pajamas.
Shortgirl your NYE sounds like a blast! I let Ben go out without me. I just did not even care about it one iota.
I will be ready to go back to work and to start some healthier eating.

We are trying to plan a trip to Vegas for Chris' birthday! Neither of us has ever been!

We may go back to Vegas for my birthday in April.
We were thinking of going to Disney to celebrate Mel's graduation. I don't know what we are doing wrong, but for those prices, we could go to Italy for a week.

DisneyWORLD or DisneyLAND? With DisneyWorld, you can definitely spend Europe-level money, but you can do it for way less than that, too.
We've got a break in early May (around my birthday) that we COULD do Vegas, but I don't like going when it's super busy. We'll probably wait until late August/early September after school has started back.
Disney World. Staying at one of the nicer Disney hotels, in one room, for a week with park tickets, came out to over $7k. Not including food. Now granted, we were just quickly searching on Travelocity with no real research. But still.
My first trip to Vegas was the first weekend in May and I thought the weather was perfect. Late August sounds really hot!

Yeah, the nicer hotels are REALLY expensive. But there isn't a bad hotel on property, and with SO many options, I really don't think it's necessary to stay at one of the really pricey ones.
That said, check with Disney for package deals. I can't imagine that Travelocity is going to have anything better than going through the actual Disney website. My folks recently went (and went ALL out) for their 25th wedding anniversary for a week, and didn't spend half that much.
You could. Are you adding in the dining plan? That is causing some palpitations for people I know on the Disney Board that I'm on. We like getting the deluxe one because then we only need souvenir and tip money once we get there. However, it is pricey ($80 a day per person). However, you can stay at one of the less expensive ones on site. Also consider staying off property. You can't get the dining plan and you miss out on some of the other things like Extra Magic Hours and the free shuttle to and from the airport but I know people who save lots of money that way.
Also, depending on how long you guys are wanting to go, buying an annual pass for each of you could make sense. I priced it out as 8 days worth of tickets with park hoppers last year and we got some decent discounts on our hotel rooms each time we went and we get a discount every time we buy a souvenir (hello, Dooney and Burke!!!!). The Swan and The Dolphin do allow you entry to EMH but you can't ride the Magic Express and you can't get a dining plan.
Stephie,
If you have other questions, you can message me. I can also meet up like Saturday morning if you want. Let me know.
Definitely book through Disney. We buy our air separate (and that may be what's driving it up for you plus you can't buy the dining plan if you wanted to through them).

I'm sorry Ladies.. I'm sitting at home, but I thought i would come on to see how everyone is doing.
Hope everyone had a good NYE! I might be going into the office, but I'm waiting for the new doctor to call me. It's slightly frustrating.

When they talk about chocolate covered strawberries and delivery, it gets up to that point too. I liked my cookie bouquet that I sent to Bill for our anniversary last year. It ended up being more but at least there were 7-8 cookies (I think).
