Alright, here I go.... Here are my fitness goals for the year:
- Walk 365 miles {ie walk a "daily mile"}
- Keep running and beat my 1/2 marathon time by 30 minutes
- Lose 28lbs {I've reset my ticker in my siggy}
- Thinking of this year as "getting the body ready for baby " {tentative TTC date of summer 2013} so I will be making conscious decisions about what I put in my mouth

Re: 2012 Fitness Goals
These sound like great goals! I really like the idea of setting a goal of a certain number of miles. I'm not setting a goal to lose a certain amount of weight (I really really need to as I have been horrible with stress and weight gain the past 2 years). My goal is to get in better shape, because like you, I would like to start TTC in early 2013 assuming the baby fever holds out that long! I would love to be able to log 365 miles as well
Great goal!
If you want a check in buddy I'm totally up for it. crice9608 at gmail.
Mr. and Mrs. est. September 6, 2008 Expecting Baby #1 October 1, 2013
There's a website called "dailymile.com" that I track all my running on... that's where I got the idea. Even an extra mile a day will do some good- not a whole lot, but some.
My 2012 fitness goal is vague, but I just want to be more active on a regular and consistant basis. Last year my working out phases came in spurts and I just want to be more consistant.
For weight loss I have 2 goals. 1) to hit the 100lb weight loss mark and 2) to reach my ultimate (and maintainable) goal weight...30lbs to go!
I like the idea of a mile a day. I walk a mile most days, so this would be a good goal.
Otherwise my goal is similar to Amanda, to just be more active on a consistent basis. I am signing up for a Zumba class 2 days a week for the winter session!
Blog
One of my fitness goals is to run a sub 40 min 5K. For some reason I can not break that damn 40 min mark. Even with today's race!
I MAY dabble in another half but we will see.
I am (re) committing to New Rules of Lifting for Women. I did the first stage and then stopped. I am starting that up again Tuesday.
Dang woman!! Congrats! Is the 30lbs to maintain AND reach the 100 lbs??
My fitness goals...
1. I want to lose 12 lbs to get back to my before Dylan weight.
2. To be more active, especially during these winter months!!
3. Get rid of the leftover flab from having babies. I need to tighten and tone up my stomach!
4. Start running with one of my friends. I was supposed to start this last year, but then found out I was pregnant.
1. Work out 4 times a week, obviously this will very in definition through out the year. Right now it's manly cardio/weights, closer to 3rd tri it will probably be yoga, right after baby walking and then I'll pick up cardio/weights once I can.
2. Be with in (if not at) my pre-baby weight by the end of the year. This depends on how much I end up gaining. If I gain more then recommended/expected then I'll be OK with not reaching this goal but I still want to work towards it.
Similar to this, continue to work out 5x a week (3x spin, 1-2x lifting, 1 x yoga) until I have this baby. Then get back into the swing of things afterwards and get down to my pre-pregnancy weight.

Well I actually need to gain weight, haha. For the first 5 months of the year anyway. We ordered a fitness bike before Christmas but when we unpacked it the housing was broken and the piece that connects the seat to the housing was bent. So we have to send it back and get another. But once we have a functional one I want to ride it for 15-30 minutes a day, depending on how I feel.
Postpartum, when I have the okay to exercise, I want to start jogging outside again. Or swim in the lake when it is too hot. I also want to take the baby on daily walks when it is nice.
I like the mile a day goal - but I've already not walked a mile each day, ha! I do think I should set a mileage goal since I plan on running a marathon relay in April (Paige, we need to talk!) and other races throughout the year. I think I'm going to aim high at 500 miles in 2012.
Other goals related to fitness that I listed on my blog are to run in 3 races and buy a bike and use it to commute to work. I have about half of what I need saved for the bike, so hopefully I can get it this spring.
I also would like to lose 15 pounds. I'd be really happy with 10, but 15 would be especially super.
Blog
To simply be more active and eat better.
We're going to do our best to follow the eating habbits layed out in Jillian Michael's book "Managing Your Metabolism" and J's also got us some work out DVDs by George St Pierre, his fave UFC fighter. So doing that at least 3 times a week plus working out at gymnastics class with my older girls 3 days a week is what the plan is!
My Jan goals are to stick to my running schedule (which isn't intense by any means), go to crossfit 2x/week, and only eat candy 1x/week at work (I don't care about home since I don't eat much at home).
I plan to make monthly goals, but those are Jan's.
My bigger 2012 goals are to PR in the NYC marathon and lose 15 lbs. 25 would be cool, but 15 will work and put me where I was when I ran NYC in 2007.
I want to get my 5k time to sub-30 min, at least. I also want to cut off at least 13 min (~1min/mi) from my 1/2 marathon time. I want to cross the 10 miler that got me started running years ago off my list.
I want to keep running and working out if I get pregnant later in the year. I hope that makes getting back in shape easier next time around.
I want to start swimming again.
I don't have a goal weight in mind. I'm still about 6-7 lbs heavier than my pre-P weight, but I am the same size and can fit in my wedding dress (and look better in some places than pre-P). I want to get my body fat % down, though, so I want to really get into lifting again to continue increasing my muscle mass. I want to tone up my arms and back again, and work on my middle, which has always been my trouble spot.
2012 Reading Challenge
Once #2 arrives and I get the OK, I want to start running again. My goal is to do a half in the fall. Which is totally doable. I think Craig is on for training for it too... Which would be huge.
Other then that I want to be better about meal planning and get us out of the going out to eat rut. It seems like we don't bother making quick meals but go out to dinner if we don't feel like cooking. We need to get out of that habit. Plus if we all start walking Merlin in the evenings we will all be getting more exercise.
My January Goals are:
My overall goal weight loss is 65lbs by January 2, 2013. I was at that weight when I got engaged to DH and I'd like to be back at that weight which is my "happy weight".
