I had until the end of today to be out of my old apartment. I had carpet cleaners scheduled to come at 2 to clean. I go over there to let them in and maintenance has already taken over the old place and is painting everywhere so the cleaners can't do their job. I just spent the last 1/2 hour with the manager arguing about it because I know I'm going to get charged for carpet cleaning if I don't do it myself yet I can't because maintenance jumped the gun. My cleaners want to be paid for coming out, even though they couldn't clean. Ultimately the apartment agreed to let them come back later, but now, if something doesn't come out, how do we know it was my mess vs. the maintenance guys?
I also had a few things left in the apartment that my movers refused to move (that's another story and vent), which maintenance had set out in the hall to throw out. thins like N's keyboard, our small TV, and a few boxes. If I hadn't gotten there when I did, it all would have been gone.
I need a week off from this last week off at this point. I'm going to go postal if one more tiny thing happens. But, at least I'm all moved and only have a mess in one place to put up with.
Re: Just freaking shoot me now
Can you sue them?
I'm kidding. Sort of. This totally sucks, I've been in your shoes. I'm glad you were there so the things that were still in the apartment weren't thrown out.
Holy cow, we're going to have a little sister!!
Yeah except I still live in the complex so I'm walking a fine line.
ETA: Plus the maintenance guys did also get in trouble because they weren't supposed to paint until tomorrow. They only reason they were allowed to continue was because of the hassle it would have been for them to pack everything up.
