Re: one of the good things about moving out

  • I totally did this, too. I think other than some extra pillows and blankets, my life has become pretty streamlined and simple. It feels awesome.

Plus my place feels bigger because sh.i.t is not piled up in every corner and tumbling out of closets when I open them :)

  • Life is going to be so great, so soon .It's coming, Premier.
SO SINGS MY SOUL *WHAM!* MY SAVIOR GOD TO THEE *WHAM!* HOW GREAT THOU ART *WHAM!* HOW GREAT THOU ART *WHAM!*
  • I did the same thing, and loaded up freecycle with stuff.  It was kind of freeing in itself

  • I know the feeling! I am moving into bf's house this month, and my mom just came over to help me go through things. I am getting rid of so much and organizing everything!
  • Yep!  I lurve that feeling.  Everything is so much simpler, and as an organization freak, I love the organization in my house.
  • I did it too.  Downsizing from a 2000 square foot house to an 895 sq. ft. apartment helped me prioritize. Then when I moved in, I found that I needed to get rid of more stuff.  My friend was having a yard sale and invited me to set up a table.  Whatever I didn't sell at the yard sale, I donated to Salvation Army.  Somehow I've still hung on to some things and I'm working on getting rid of those this year!
  • I love that feeling too. Simple is the way to go.  It is also nice to know I can decorate things how I want and I no longer have to compromise and have his shiiit all over to deal with.

  • There's something so refreshing about getting rid of materialistic things that all of a sudden don't really mean much once things are in perspective.
  • Huh...I was just thinking of taking everything I wanted (which, really, is only three small pieces of furniture, a bunch of the kitchen stuff, and all my actual personal belongings that are clearly mine) and leaving the rest behind! Actually, I am planning to preemptively start going through things like books and clothing (although as I have been losing weight over the past two years, I have gotten rid of a LOT of clothing) so that those are ready to donate before I have to pull the trigger on moving out.

In my method of dealing with the reality of this life-altering event in completely a bass-ackwards order, however, I have already picked out new furniture and new kitchen stuff (to replace the stuff that I don't plan to take) and posted it among my Pinterest boards.

Dude, I told my therapist, before I had even asked my XH for a divorce, that I couldn't have The Conversation with him because I was stressing about who would get the microwave! True story. It's crazy the places our mind will go to avoid dealing with the difficult sh.i.t.
