I just wanted to say thank you so much for all of the sweet comments. And thank you Lisa for posting the pictures! Motherhood has been simply amazing so far. You always hear from people how in love you are with your children you will be, but words don't even come close to expressing just how much in love I am with Merritt.
Labor was definitely a little rough because the little stinkbug was facing the wrong way so I had back labor the entire time until the very end when I began pushing. I am extremely happy though that I was able to stick to my birth preferences and did it completely med free (no epidural). I couldn't have done it without DH and my mom. DH was so wonderful. He stayed by my side the entire time, helped me breathe through each contraction, and supported me when I felt I couldn't get through another one.
Merritt came at 10:37 pm after 6 hours of true labor. (I say true labor because they started the pitocin at 9 am, but contractions that I really felt didn't start until they broke my water around 4 pm.) She weighed in at 7 pounds, 15 ounces, and 20 1/4" long. She had the cord wrapped around her neck and was very pale when she came out so they brought the NICU nurses in to get her pinked up. Talk about a scary experience! Thankfully she began crying after about a minute and began to get some color in her.
We've been home for a few days now and it's still so surreal she's here. I just look at her and can't believe how perfect she is.
