TT: did you like it?

I did but I thought it went on a bit long and I wanted to know more of how Vinnie thought and felt. This is Benjamin's second novel that fictionalizes the autobiography of a famous historical woman. I feel like Alice I Have Been was better.

Re: TT: did you like it?

  • I did, but like you it felt long in places where she rambled about traveling and shows and did not give us enough of the meat of the characters.

I wound up not really liking her very much. I started out really loving her and liked her less and less as it went on.

  • I'm only about 65% thru it now and I like it but I'm already feeling like it's too long and I'm over all the accounts of the shows. I loved Vinnie at the start but agree that she is becoming too calculating for me. I don't like her marriage at all.

  • I haven't quite finished, but I agree that it's long. Especially in places where she says she's not going to talk much about the trip around the world and then goes on for 25 pages.

Overall I'm fascinated by it, though.
