Can't believe this hasn't been asked yet... but, do you have a new year's resolution or some general goals for 2012?
Mine are threefold: organization, creativity, and volunteering. I want to get a couple rooms in our house organized, I want to take an art class (or, at least putter around with some art supplies), and I want to volunteer at least 4 times (gotta start somewhere!)
I decided that I'm DONE with weight loss and health related goals. LOL.
Re: NY resolutions
I'm pretty sure there was a QOTD about this a little while ago . . .
But, I've refined mine in the past week and need to write them down so I'll play again anyway!
-Grown up stuff: will, life insurance, finally get a PCP
-Declutter, clean up house and prep for rental
-Be more active (I'm over weight related goals, but need to get out of my lazy funk): walk during lunch 3x a week, practice yoga 2x, take the stairs,
-Related to above, walk/hike with the dogs more. They were seriously neglected in 2011. I'm aiming low for 2x a month (I told you they were neglected).
ChCh - I'll come help you organize!
I am making an effort to walk for an hour at least every other day, which is +/- 3.5 miles. The new (very basic) treadmill works quite well for that, since it means I don't use the weather/lack of sunlight as an excuse. That's as much as health-related/weight-loss related as I can promise myself.
Also, limiting dinner out to once a week (no more!), preferably at a place like Paolo's on half-price pasta Sunday so we're not breaking the bank.
Also, a vacation before July. If I learned one thing in 2011, it's that I need time away from my office, so as to avoid The Crazy. Even if its "just" Chincoteague (John's cousin has a house there that we can rent cheaply), it's time away.
Also, and somewhat oddly, find one new song/artist a week. I tend to listen to the same old stuff, over and over again. I need to broaden my horizons.
"What is a week-end?"
- Join the REC center (cliche but we lapsed for a few months in order to get the better deal at the start of the year)
- New job! (if anyone is willing to help in this endeavor - let me know!)
what do you do? what do you WANT to do?
"What is a week-end?"
Be healthier
leave work at work so it stops making me so miserable all the damn time
We make the rockin' world go 'round.
I do healthcare/education policy things at a nonprofit.
I'd like to do the same at either at a larger/more broad nonprofit/agency/etc.
UGH, this is my resolution too. So hard to do.
Baby248 - ETA 1/10/13
DH and I jointly resolved to go to the gym three times per week -- no excuses!
I want to get to bed earlier to make waking up easier so my personal resolution is to be in bed (with a book) by 9 on school/work nights. It also helps with my second resolution to read more. I've got a giant stack of books 'to be read' and got more for Christmas.
Also, I plan to drink more beer/wine. Our basement is full of bottles. We keep buying but then never get around to drinking all that much/often. We tend to buy a lot of the bigger (750 mL) beers, and for some reason we tend not to open them as much as smaller bottles, so yeah, drinking more in 2012. Woohoo!
My Food Blog
-stay in touch better with my long-distance friends. no more using Facebook as a crutch, I need to actually call!
-have this baby ;-)
-not go insane being a SAHM with a toddler and an infant
I think that's about all I can put on myself at this point ;-)
Dude, that is my kind of resolution.
amen.
(and I think that goes along with my "not go insane" resolution perfectly!)
i think most of these were covered in the QOTD but this is a good reminder (and i copied some from MrsHabious
creativity: take another photography class and a photoshop class. i'm also doing a project 52 on my blog, which will also ensure i post regularly.
continue with good eating habits (took a little holiday vaca on that . . .) and get back to exercising regularly. i have a gym in my building so i've no excuse not to.
once i'm full-time at this job, re-start contributing to my 401K at a higher rate and try to save like 1/2 of my salary.
be more organized and do the 15 mins/3x week (thanks MrsHabious, i know we can actually do this!)
i love stargirl's resolution to drink more and i will absolutely be following in that too
we have a nice supply of wine & beer to get drinking too!
You need a dog like ours. She refuses to poop in our yard, so walking her is not optional.
Yeah, it's not exactly a typical resolution, that's for sure! We came back from Upstate NY with a case of beer, and nearly a case of wine. DH said, "We need to stop buying alcohol!", and I said, "Or we can just drink more!" Problem solved!
My Food Blog
Same here. I elaborated on my resolutions in my latest blog post, but basically I intend to run more, read more, and stress less; spend more time with family and a lot less time stressing over work.
Mine in the QOTD post mainly focused on fertility, health, and career/business, but in reality I do exercises every quarter where I review eight areas of my life and write down a crapload of wishful thinking notes. [my 8 areas = Career, Money / Finances, Health / Wellness, Friends / Family, Significant Other / Romance, Personal Growth (may be spiritual or not), Fun / Recreation, and Physical Environment (your home, neighborhood, etc.).]
This week, I'm letting this round of notes marinate and am trying to take in all the "to-dos" and think about what the overall "to-bes" are to guide my actions (see my post "S/O NY Resolutions - To-Do Goals vs. To-Be Goals"). I need to do this for myself or else I get overwhelmed by the wishful thinking notes.
