Gah - lease drama. Anyone have any landlord/tenant knowledge?
My super awesome landlord is selling our rental, and we are running into some problems with the question of "what happens next" under our lease.
Anyone have experience with this issue? I'd love to get some advice.
Re: Gah - lease drama. Anyone have any landlord/tenant knowledge?
Are you united with the CCOKCs?
That's exactly what I thought. And what our current owner thinks. But our new owner is convinced we have to sign a new one. Super frustrating.
I'm pretty sure that my lease was similar to DTEG and what Andrealynn said. Have you called the landlord/tenant hotline?

No, but I will!
I checked with some of my law geek friends, and we are all pretty much in agreement.
I guess I'm not sure how ugly to let this get - the new owner wants us to sign a new lease that is ridiculous. I told them I thought it was ridiculous (in nice terms) and he made it slightly less so, but I can tell it's going to be a massive struggle. Gah.
When is your lease up?
I know it sucks with all you have going on now, but would your current landlord let you out of the lease a few days before the new owners close?
That sucks
I believe the law is 100% on your side, but it does suck to have to start out on this kind of footing with the new landlord.
Hang in there.
