Hi ladies,
I have a lot of family in Bombay, India and we're thinking of taking my son to meet them in March. He'll be seven and a half months at the time. We were thinking that taking him at that age would be good since I'll hopefully still be nursing him for the most part so we won't have to worry too much about food and water (and he won't be walking as yet, so I won't have to worry too much about him running around) but I'm definitely nervous about the trip and now I'm worrying that he's too young. We don't have to go in March, but it will be tough not to go at all in the next year or so to see the family. Has anyone done this trip with a small child before and any suggestions or advice or things to keep in mind?
Thanks in advance.
Re: India with Baby - Any Advice?
My best friend from grad school's parents are from Bangalore and she also works with me now.
She went with her daughter in 2010 when she was 9 months. She went then because the vaccines were in place (they accelerated the MMR I think). She was just careful with food and water (took her own baby food with her in seperate suitcase) and did not take him outside or anywhere not treated for mosquitos as she did not give him the anti-malarials.
My friend has never lived in India herself, but most of her family was there. She and her daughter were fine.
I can ask her if there were any other things she would recomend.

our friends/family think this is the perfect time to go to India, for the reasons you stated. We have multiple friends who have taken their children at that age and it went fine.
