=) Update on Dh homecoming

Dh arrived home Christmas morning while I was in new york with the rest of his family and our daughters.
Our parents had NO idea that he was even coming home, so thursday we drove up to his parent's house to surprise them.
I used to think surprise homecomings were a joke, but we managed to pull them off.
I had told MIL that Dh sent her home a gift from Afghanistan and that it was so big I had to have my neighbor put it in the trunk for me. I put Dh in the trunk of my car before we pulled into the parking lot where his mom was at... when she opened the trunk all she could say is "What are you doing here? What are you doing here?" and then she cried hysterically.
FIL was a little more subtle, but definitely just as surprised.

Having DH home has brightened my mom's life a lot. My Grandma has been fighting Breast Cancer for over two years now and we just found out she has more tumors in the opposite breast. As if that wasn't enough, My grandpa has been in the hospital for two weeks now... and just had his leg amputated.
When he surprised her, it was the first time I'd seen her smile in almost a month.

  • Bahahaha...
Putting him in the trunk was the BEST idea I ever had. It was funny to watch him cram himself in there LOL.

    Thanks ladies,
The girls and I are pretty stoked that he's back here with us.
Now, we just get to keep our fingers crossed because my BIL and SIL are both over there still... as well as a few of DH's very very close friends.

  • Thank you.
It was nice knowing that on Christmas he was safe and sound in our house even though I wasn't able to physically be with him, definitely the best present I got. Thankfully he didn't spend Christmas alone, some of the guys who couldn't go home stayed over and celebrated with him.
And when we celebrated new years we ate icecream on the couch and fell asleep before the count down.
Apparently having two kids and coming home from Afghanistan makes you less of a party animal lol.
