New Here! & a question

Hi :) I had no idea this board was here! I've skimmed through a couple posts already & am surprised at what I found & a bit inspired (thank you). I had no idea there was such a thing as a Home Management binder (gotta work on putting one together!)

Anyhow, I stumbled upon this board to ask a question. We recently purchased a house and I'm in the process of cleaning/organizing everything. Right now I'm working on the laundry room. My question is this: how do you store your cleaning supplies? Cleaners and the little things like wash cloths/rags, dusters, scrubby brushes, etc. Currently I have a wicker basket filled to the brim with washcloths/rags but it doesn't feel vey organized. I know there has to a better solution that I'm just not seeing.

TIA for your input :)

Re: New Here! & a question

  • My cleaners are kept under the kitchen sink.  I have a drawer full of rags and hand towels.  I use a regular kitchen rag for cleaning anything except the bathroom, wash on hot with a bit of bleach and they're ready for wiping a face.

ETA:  Welcome to the board.  It's not super active, but it's a great place to get motivated or ask a question.

  • I keep cleaning supplies above the kitchen sink. I used to have a cat who could open the kitchen cabinets and he would also chew on anything plastic, so it's a habit to keep the stuff up there.

I have a stack of microfiber cleaning rags that I keep up there too. All of the bottles are on one side and clean towels, rags and mop heads are on the other.

  • I saw the best idea on Pinterest, I haven't had a chance to try it yet though.

They used one of those plastic over the door shoe hangers for all of that stuff.

Like this, but you probably wouldn't want pink!

And they stored all the cleaning supplies and rags in it. I thought it was a great idea.

  • I use the over the door shoe hanger, and it's awesome!  It holds all of the cleaning supplies!  I fold my cleaning rags in thirds to make a stack of them fit in a pocket.  Since we hang ours over the door to our laundry closet, I also keep spray and wash, laundry sheets, etc. in it.  I'm going to buy more and use it for other things like for snacks, spices, and cooking utensils in the pantry.
