Re: Your advice is needed!
The first thing I think I would be concerned with would be the cost of paying for insurance out of pocket vs. going back to that old job and making less money. If that wasn't a huge issue then I would look at the job.
Is it something that I actually want to do or am I going to be miserable? In my experience working someplace you hate really hate makes a big difference in quality of life.
My $.02.
Thanks for your $.02! Yeah, we will see. We sent the information in yesterday and probably won't hear from the underwriters for another couple of weeks. Hopefully it will be doable.
I think that once I am in the new position it be better than what I have been doing. I will get to go out and see people rather than being stuck in the office.
From what I rememer from our previous conversations about work, you really dont want to be there. I would not consider going back to old position because unhappy + less money = more miserable.
I would consider self insuring just long enough to agressively look for new work. And remember, with this economy, you'll need to put in like 100 apps to get 1 call back, so persistence is key. Dont give up.
You also need to take into consideration how much your out of pocket max is with the employer's coverage vs purchasing your own plan. Unless you have a substantial savings built up, that's not something I would risk.
