Spending freeze

So I was just looking at our bank account... holy heII I spent a lot of money over the past few weeks!

I decided I'm doing a spending freeze in January--no unnecessary purchases for me. I've never done this before, so this should be interesting!

Re: Spending freeze

  • Put your debit card in the freezer, use only cash.
  • I told H this morning we need to do this as well.
  • Here's the deal with a spending freeze - you can't do an out and out freeze after going on a spending binge because what will happen is that after you lift the freeze you will go buck wild crazy. So, in moderation, cut back.  Long-term, it is more beneficial.

Well, I was on a moderate spending freeze for a while back in the fall... not an official freeze, but funds were very short. So I went crazy come November and December. I'm not planning on like bringing my lunch to work everyday or anything. Just no more clothes, horse crap, trips to Target, etc.

I figure--almost everything I've been wanting to purchase lately has either been bought or was a Christmas gift to me, so I think I can handle this... I hope.

This is what I'm thinking as well.
