ugh...matress clean up?

Grace is in a full size bed and is SO excited for it. I checked on her tonight and she wet the bed. Totally my fault and didn't pick up a mattress pad for it. How should I clean it? For now I used a damp cloth with soap. I dried it with a towel and got what I could soaked up. I plan on letting it dry all day tomorrow and maybe spraying febreeze on it...anything else?

Re: ugh...matress clean up?

  • It may be different for people vs cats, but my cat got locked in our guest room for 2 days and pee'd on the bed. By the time I realized I hadn't seen her, and found her, the pee was dry. I used soap and water, which did nothing.

Nature's Miracle at Petsmart did the trick. I soaked the mattress with it and you would never know it was pee'd on before.  It took the smell and color.

  • I was also going to suggest something that would soak through a little bit.  There's a puppy pee formula meant for carpets, that soaks through to the pad, meant to get out the smells.  I know this isn't carpet and not a puppy, but the soaking through thing may help.  Also, if you have a spare bed for her, I'd recommend sitting it out in the sun for a few days.
