Chatter

I was all prepped to have a crazy day at work and it's dead here. So dead that I've already plowed through my to-do list for the day and it's not even lunch time.

Keep me entertained?

Or, help me pick a vacation spot. We have 4-5 days in June that I really want to take off. Something at the beach. Easily driveable from Jersey because we have weddings both weekends surrounding the days. Maybe Cape Cod? Virginia Beach?

Re: Chatter

  • oooo a beach trip sounds awesome!  Luke and I just got back from my school.  The teachers went back to work but the kids aren't back until tomorrow.  My principal was excited to see him and was pretty much a baby hog!  We're back and he's all pooped out so he's napping on the couch in his boppy.  My principal also told me if I wanted to come back before my 12 weeks she would consider letting me bring the baby!  Not sure if she was serious or not but I'm guessing she really misses me around there. lol

Have you thought of things you want to do/see when you and Mark are down here?  It's just a couple of weeks now!!

We're good to do whatever, really. I just want to cuddle Lucas!

Which reminds me, I never did the rental car bit. I should get on that.

  • He loves cuddling!  You don't really need a rental car unless you absolutely want one.  We are literally maybe a mile away from you and we don't mind going to pick you guys up at all.  It would be a waste of money IMO.

  • Maybe that's why I didn't book one then. Mark was asking me the other night if I ever did it and I couldn't remember why I hadn't.

PS, can I put in a request for warm weather while we're there?

  • Depends what you consider warm. Lol if its 50s-70s then yes! Anything else, no. :)

  • That sounds perfect. We're rocking the upper 20s today. I'm freezing.
  • Ooooh! Both beach options sound great!

I haven't done much today. Tony is home most days since he is still waiting on some things for his new job, so basically he goes in, says hi, and leaves. Which has been great in the fact that he's unpacked most of the boxes since I usually feel awful and stay in bed all day. Today though we made a quick trip to Lowe's and Target for a few things. And I'm trying to meet up with this lady this afternoon to buy a bag of maternity clothes from her. 11 items, mostly pants, and in great condition for $20! I'm sold!

  • My thought is..the further south you can go, the better.  June is still cool in NE, from my experiences.
  • It is only the first really cold day here today and I am already ready for the beach especially since last summer I spent with a newborn.

  • I'm having the same kind of day b/c the computer system I need is running SO SLOW!

    A beach trip sounds awesome.

Im trying to figure out when to take Andy to NYC to meet his grandparents  Do you think it's likely to be super cold and snowy in Feb? I wanted to do spring break but I can't because of work and Feb is the only time before Sept we can go without Alex missing class.

  • I would skip the Cape. I always try to give it another shot since it's so close by, but I think it's really overrated. The beaches aren't that great and traffic is such a pain. However, if you can afford a stay on Nantucket or the Vineyard, it's worth it. (There are lots of ferries so the drive isn't too bad)

Feb is usually frigid around here. I think it's slightly warmer in the city because of all the buildings (I'm not sure exactly where your ILs are?). But yes, cold.

They're saying it should be a dry winter, but you always run the risk of snow.

Check out Jet Blue today - they had some deals for Tues/Wed travel before April and I *think* there were some from Austin-NYC.

Good to know. I've never been up that way so I have no idea what it's like.

Thanks. I hate the thought of hauling a cold baby around the city. They live on Brighton Beach so I imagine we won't get much protection from the cold. I'm sure we'll figure something out. Thanks for the Jet Blue tip.

  • I actually like the Cape, and I've been there in June before and there's usually no traffic that time of year. That being said, the water is FREEZING in June (as in, I put my feet in and it physically hurt), so if you're looking for warm weather and swimming, I would go south like Nittany said. If you just want cute little towns or a relaxing getaway, the Cape is not a bad choice, IMO.

  • Virginia Beach is good, but my recommendation would be Ocean City, MD. We always have a blast there and they have a really good boardwalk. And it's in Maryland, so in June you should be safe with swimming water warmth, especially if it's late in June. I live right in that area so if you have any questions feel free to ask!
