Re: Spontaneous or Induced Labor? Clicky Poll

  • Induced at 41 weeks, Z was a big bubba and they didn't want me going any longer. Resulted in never going beyond 4 cm and having a c-section.

I didn't vote as if that made me a special snowflake.

  • I clicked special snowflake.  I was induced starting at 42 weeks, but never actually went into labor.  Never dialated even 1 cm.

  • Special snowflakes, I'm curious! How did your labor go down? :-)

Two rounds of cervadil and pitocin.  Monitor showed contractions every 1 to 2 minutes, but I never felt them and never dilated.  The baby never dropped.  These "contractions" felt no different than what I had after acupuncture (also to induce labor).  So after 2+ days of induction, I had a c section.  Not exactly the natural birth I had planned for.

  • I said special snowflake, since both labors were different.

With Taryn, spotaneous labor at 39 weeks 5 days. With Tessa, induced due to IUGR at 39 weeks.

  • Induced at 38 weeks 2 days due to gestational hypertension (increasingly getting worse, usually in the 150-160/110 range), suspected pre-e (in the middle of my third 24 hour urine collection, protein increasing significantly each time, just a few numbers off the limit on 2nd collection), and many other things. I was sent from my MD appointment to the hospital for induction.
  • I picked SS since I couldn't vote more than once

#1 was spontaneous labor at 40 weeks

    #2 was scheduled c/s at 39 weeks

  • I had spontaneous labor with Alex at 40w5d. I was induced with Cori at 41w.

  • I went into spontaneous labor on my due date/induction date with Kellen, so I didn't end up needing to be induced as planned. I also went into spontaneous labor with Tessa at 38 weeks 5 days.
  • I voted special snowflake because with both pregnancies, my water had broke on its own but nothing else happened so then they induced me.

  • I was induced with Abby at 41wk3d and had a scheduled c/s with the twins.  My poor body never went to labor on its own.  If I wasn't so miserable at the end with the twins I would have held out longer just to see if I would have ever gone into labor on my own!!!
  • Spontaneous at 40 weeks 5 days with Mads.
  • I clicked special snowflake.  My water broke at about 5 pm (at the dr's office) and I was only about 1-2 cm dilated.  At around midnight, I was about 3 and they started me on pitocin.  I was on that for awhile, on and off, and then around 4:30-5 the next afternoon they stopped and scheduled a c-section.  I got to about 6 cm and Abbie got stuck.

  • Wow, we're at 44%.  I voted natural, but I was scheduled for an induction at 39 weeks due to polyhydramnios.  She came at 37 weeks.
  • Spontaneous at 40w and a few hours.

  • Induced at 40w, 4 days. I was just really uncomfortable and retaining a crap ton of fluid. I wish I could have held off to see if my body would have gone into labor itself but I am glad that I was induced when I was. Liam was a big boy at 9lbs, 6 oz and I am scared how much bigger he would have gotten:(
  • Scheduled c/s at 36w5d because of the growth discordance. If not for the growth issues, I don't know if I would have gone into labor on my own. I had been having contractions for months because of my irritable uterus. At 35w3d I was totally closed and at 36w3d I was 1-2 cm and 50% effaced so I may have been starting to progress on my own.
