Traveling with little ones

Suggestions of places to travel to with small children other than Disney needed.  Please :) We are up for most anything - but love the beach.  Looking for places that are kid-friendly...we're in the DC area and would rather stay on the east coast :) where we can drive to.  Not ready for air-traveling with 3 children (Dh + 2 babies!)

  • We drove to Hilton Head and the Outer Banks.  There are lots of houses and condos for rent.  The beaches were great.   Both were very family friendly.
  • Are you all into the great outdoors?  We go here every year and there are kids all over that place!

There are tons of places to hike in the area, a working farm, horses, hayrides, a pool, etc.  You can stay in a cabin and cook your own food or stay in the lodge and go to dinner there (or do both).

I know you said no Disney but have you thought about Williamsburg?  Busch Gardens is there as well as Water Country USA and Great Wolf Lodge http://www.greatwolf.com/williamsburg/waterpark.

The Great Wolf lodge is an awesome place to take kids.  It is a hotel/indoor waterpark all in one!

Williamsburg is fun to wander around and plenty of places for kids to wander.
