Those who bake?

So a friend gave me this recipe and it calls for shortening with the trans fat in it. I have looked at name brand and generic at walmart and cannot find any with trans fat. Am I missing something?

Re: Those who bake?

  • One of the walmart generic does still have transfat in it!
  • hmm, neither of them had it today at least for the brands on 72nd, I may have to try another walmart.
  • It's getting harder to find... I took a class and they said to watch your water content if you have to use the shortening with out Tras Fat. (this was for frosting).

So instead of adding all 6 tablespoons at once they reccomended doing 2 and then going from there...

  • Thanks, it is for frosting. So I will use that tip if I can't find anything.
  • This friend sounds like a total douche. Btw, I usually find trans fats in the cheaply generic shortening, like gateway shortening is a good one. Trans fats just help absorb the medium you are adding it to, like sugar. It make a creamier, more stable mic. Stupid government and their trans fat nonsense
  • Gateway = fareway store, stupid autocorrect iPhone. I'm going to punch it
