Hi all. Not to get into the whole situation again (I posted a whole bunch of the skeletons in my closet previously), but I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with getting a divorce in NH. I just moved here with soon-to-be ex-DH back in June, and I don't know anyone who's gotten a divorce in this state. I tried to research online, and the state's website mentioned that a divorce could be obtained in 2-4 months if both people sign, but didn't say how long it'll take or what you have to do if the other person won't sign. I really don't have the money for a lawyer right now (plus it seems like a waste to hire one when we don't have any kids or own any property together), so I was hoping to do this without having to hire a lawyer. Anyone have any experience with this?
Just to clarify, my family lives in another state, so when I leave and move to a different state the rules change all over again. Then I'd have to wait until I was a legal resident of my parents' state for a year before I could file, and I really don't want to have to do that! I just want to get the hell out of here and get his name off mine ASAP!
Re: Does anyone know about divorce in New Hampshire?
I googled "free divorce lawyers in New Hampshire"
and one of the links is to the Bar Association Website, and it has a list of pro-bono services if you're low income.

Well, I tried to apply for those pro-bono lawyers, and they said I make too much money. Not sure how since I've been unemployed for 6 months, but...
I've decided to just move back to my parents' house in PA, get settled, and then start dealing with the paperwork, since I know STBXDH won't sign without a fight. I'm hoping that in a month or two when he gets used to being alone he'll be more eager to file jointly, so I won't have to get a lawyer and all that. :-/. It is good to know that yours went so quickly though! I'm hoping mine does too, once I manage to file the paperwork.
