  • It was good! I miss our families. I went cross country skiing and did a lot of knitting and we played lots of games. Home is boring. And it's way too hot to be January.

  • Yes,it's a liitle warm.  The cross country skiing pics were beautiful.  Glad you had fun.

  • Hi! You've been missed!  I have an unexpected night off with no obligations and an empty house. I plan to celebrate by watching tv and reading and accomplishing very little.
  • Welcome back!

  • I was all prepared to be working again tonight, but work has no work for me so I do too. My kids are still awake and need dinner though, so I should probably feed them and put them in bed so I can get around to doing nothing.

So I see that Mo is pregnant, CMC had her baby, SB is not pregnant, and CS's adoption went through. Am I missing any other pertinent information that would require me to scroll back through the old pages?

  • Hmm, well, shiit is gettin real in the Dawg household. She has baby swings and stuff, and will have babies soon.

Winged got sprayed with a skunk.

    November saw a dying rat.

TSD's kid has been through lots of doctor drama but does not have asthma. He probably has some crazy sinus infection causing him to cough 24/7.

I've been awake since 3:30 am. Not by choice.

    How you doin'

  • I got the shoes I ordered for my wedding and I lub them so.  I was so afraid they wouldn't fit, but they do!  I paid like 23% of the retail price for them (new in box, never worn) so that's a giant bonus.

ETA: Good lord do I love your new siggy.  Beautiful.

  • We missed yooooouuuu! And omg, Evie's eyes are amazingly blue.

  • Wow, Evie's eyes are so pretty! They even match her jacket.
I'm pretty sure it's pronounced your mom's a moron and if you didn't have your name legally changed by the age of 22, so are you. Unless you're from another continent. -Groomz
  • Vie is cute as a button!

  • Thanks for the Evie comments. She's pretty cute. She's a little terror with no off switch, so it's good that she's cute. Little thing was sick several days on our vacation and instead of being all sleepy and interested in cuddling, she just walked around in circles, crying, clinging to things, climbing on things while crying, covering everything in snot. She's not interested in sitting down.

I'm interested in seeing your shoes, Wendy! Also, what did you decide for catering? I was telling Lorne about your chicken-hating uncle and how weird I thought it was a few days ago. Yes, at some point in the middle of the night while driving, I talked with my husband about your catering options. I'm not sure what this says about me.

Also, I'm interested in this skunk story.

  • Maawwwwwwwwwwwwd! I miss you too. It's been too long since we've seen each other.

Also: Lorne is a human space heater. My feet are on fire.

  • Good golly, Evie is such a gorgeous little thing.  Those eyeballs of her are going to inspire bad poetry from potential suitors one day.

    Here are the shoes

The  catering thing is dumber than I could have imagined. I sent te caterer an email asking for a comprehensive estimate with the details of our choices. She called me and said she was confused about me wanting to offer multiple entrees and that they "don't really DO that.". Wtf? Is offering a beef and chicken option not the most normal thing in the world to do?

She offered me the option of paying even more to do a dual-entree with tiny portions of each served to everyone. I re-iterated that wasn't what I wanted.  She asked how we could ever tell what people wanted and suggested little plastic chicken and pigs (uh, wut? That new York strip steak better not be coming from a pig, lady) on the table at their seat.  Wtf? I cant imagine anything more tacky, have you never heard of placecards with some sort of color coding or designation?

Anyhow, she eventually agreed to find out how much they would charge to offer two options and email me the quote, which of course she never did. How is it caterers here can survive not meeting customer needs?

  • I really really love those shoes.

I know! I can't wait until after the wedding when I can wear them just for funsies.

  • I love those shoes! Gorgeous.

Offering two entrees is pretty standard. Are you required to go with these weirdos by your reception place?

    image

  • Hi! I'm not family but if you want to hang out sometime to make home less boring let me know. :)

    Wendy, you're shoes are gorgeous!

Not required, but I've been similarly underwhelmed with other options. There's a fee to use anyone else and this place offers everything (linens, china, glassware, etc) that a lot of the other caterers make you rent separately. It doesn't matter because it seems like nobody responds to emails or is interested in actually doing any work to get business. I just don't understand.
