Moving vent

As you know, we are moving at the end of the month.

We have three full weeks left before the move.

Last night H announced over dinner that he would be traveling out of the country for two of them.

I am so furious. I know he has very little control over his travel schedule, and he is telling me not to worry about the packing because we'll work on it this weekend and then he'll do it the last week before the move (which is the only week he'll be home).

But I feel like this leaves the bulk of packing on my shoulders. DH says I shouldn't worry about doing any of it and he'll take care of it. But how can I not?

Re: Moving vent

  • I would just pay the movers to pack. We did that and it was SO nice to not have to worry about it. Plus, if they pack and anything breaks, they pay for it- which comes in handy for kitchen and china items.

  • I would love to. But DH is one of those "I won't pay someone to do something I can do myself" guys.

I know that if I left everything, H would manage to pack it all up the last week. But it would be at night after work, so I want to get as much done as I can so the last week isn't as hellish as I'm expecting.

    I'm just annoyed.

    I would be too!!!

  • I don't blame you! The joys of having a traveling husband-- blah.  DH and I don't get along when we move-- sooo next time we move, he said we are hiring people to save our marriage.

Well, he can't. Because he won't be there. So tell him to pay up and shut up. Stick out tongue

It took us more than a week to pack up a one-bedroom apartment.  He's crazy if he thinks he can get it all done and not be a miserable arsehole. And he's crazy if he thinks you should put up with him being a miserable arsehole.  Tell him this chick on the internet said so, heh.

    Good point!

    Love! Big Smile

I agree with everyone else about hiring people to do the packing.  I've done a lot of moves and packed myself every time.  But the last move we did was cross-country from SF back here and I swore after that we would never pack ourselves again no matter what it cost.

I don't know if it was because I was now packing for two or because I was more anal since we were going x-country but it was such a painful experience.  Seriously, as someone else said, for the sake of your sanity and your marriage just pay people to deal with it.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball
