Fellow 2012 TTC-ers

I've been unable to fall back to sleep since 4:27 (and can't really leave my bedroom cause there are people sleeping in every room of the house) so of course my mind has been wandering all over creation. DH and I... we're gonna try to make a baby THIS YEAR. That's such an odd thought. After 5 years of NOT trying to get pregnant. I know it's not really advisable at this point, but I wanna start buying baby stuff already.

Re: Fellow 2012 TTC-ers

  • I actually  had a dream last night that I was 7 weeks pregnant. I don't believe this year will be the year we will TTC, but I guess we will see what the year brings.

  • I wouldn't suggest buying stuff yet...if you have difficulties or suffer a MC, those 'things' will be a constant and painful reminder...

I would suggest perhaps getting a book on how to get pregnant.  I know it seems that it should be a natural process, but there's a bunch of stuff that can help or hurt your chances (seriously, take it from me...we have been TTC for 17 cycles without ANY luck and it's an emotional rollercoaster that can be very trying at times.)

@tinydancer - usually a pregnancy or baby in a dream represents something 'new', such as a new beginning (maybe New Year!!)...it's generally not a literal translation.

  • Well, no, I wasn't actually going to buy anything, I was just saying that I want to. Kinda like how I wanted to start the wedding registry (in thought, not action) before DH and I had officially gotten engaged.

I've been reading up and educating myself on the whole process, just so I know. I read the first quarter of "What to Expect When You're Expecting" because that part was a "free demo" on my Nook.

  • Congrats on getting so close to TTCing!  I know the months before we started to try were so exciting and scary... it is a weird feeling to go from preventing for your whole life to trying :)   I wish you guys lots of luck this year!

  • Oh, and I agree with singingdragon that it's best not to go into the whole thing with rose colored glasses.  It's exciting, but can be trying too, so it's good to be educated on how your body works.  But for now, just enjoy the time daydreaming about what's to come :)

  • It is a very exciting thought!  I have been trying for 9 months but know DH has low sperm count.  We are getting ready to start IVF an could possibly be pregnant by March.  I am over the moon excited!

  • So excited for all the ladies trying!  It is hard to wait, but so worth it!
  • I would really love a spring baby. Winters in NY are really weird, and cold, and I would hate to be stuck with a little newborn at home all the time.

We are going to start trying around June. I am changing my OBGYN to this lady that is recommended by a bunch of the girls in my area. She is also close to my town. The doc I used previously was in Manhattan, close to work - where I hope I will be far away from around my due date.  My first appt with this lady is in February.

I think I will also take some NFP classes just to know when I can and cannot get pregnant. I am such a control freak, I think I will hate this process because other than not using a condom, I know I will not be able to control anything.

  • First post for me in a long time but this topic/subject sparked my interest. Hubby and I got married on 8-8-10, we have a house, and a 1 year old puggle and I too can't stop thinking about having a baby. It's crazy I watch A Baby Story on TV everyday haha but I also have my reservations. I'm 26 and my husband is 29, I feel like for some reason I am still very young and should wait bc most of my friends are still single and going out/traveling whereas most of my husbands friends are married and starting to have kids. So, I am stuck in the middle. I am also a TV sports anchor and have a tough work schedule which consists of working 2nd shift/weekends and holidays. I feel if we were to start having a family I would have to give up my job which I love, but if it meant having a family I would sacrifice it. So with that all being said I had a gyno apt in September and told her that we were going to start TTC this summer, and go off of BC in June, which was a weird thing to say since my husband and I are the only one that knows the "plan". We don't want to tell our parents or friends until we are at a safe point in the pregnancy. We are also going to Italy in Aug to visit my husbands family so I would like a little "souvenir" if you know what I mean and have a late spring/early summer baby. Does anyone else have this urge to start one but have themselves questioning their thinking?

I hope I'm not over thinking this.

  • We are thrilled that we are finally pregnant, and I feel good that we had over a year to ourselves from our 8/6/10 wedding. We also took our dream first anniversary trip so we are ready. An Italian souvenir would be cool! (shogan)

    Yay!  Congrats!

  • Thanks! Congrats to you also!
  • Don't feel weird. I went into Pottery Barn kids and literally was so close to starting a baby registry- but I didn't. And no ... I am not preg yet, nor are we actively TTC.  I did go off BC in August, but still are yet to get 3 normal cycles in. So OBGYN doesn't want us to actively try until I get 3 cycles in. So most likely if the next few months go "normal' we'll be trying in May.

Good luck, take it slow and don't worry... if you have the urge to buy an outfit or two do it, and just give it as a gift to a pregnant friend or a friend who has a little one. You'll seem generous, and thoughtful, and still get your baby buying bug outta the way. :-)
