Can we just talk about "The Hunger Games"? (No spoilers)
I could not stop reading it. I started the first book last Friday evening and finished the series by Sunday night. Which really makes me sound like I don?t have a life, but it was mostly me up reading way past my ?bedtime?.
I am excited for the movie, but as usual worry it won?t portray it as good as the books are. On that note I love that Lenny Kravitz was cast as ?Cinna?. And overall, I think the cast seems to fit well.
What about everyone else?
Edit: I deleted a bit because my post was too long and I felt some of it sounded ridiculous.

Re: Can we just talk about "The Hunger Games"? (No spoilers)
I really liked the scene with eating donuts on a string with no hands. Much better than the competitive hot dog eating challenge-grotesque- or walking with hard boiled eggs on spoons- just silly.
Oh, it's not about those types of "Hunger Games"? Sorry.
I, um, don't really have anything to add. Clearly I've not read a stitch of the book(s). I hardly ever read and using the word "tragic" in your description makes me want to add this series even less! I'm either a thriller/horror or stupid comedy gal.
I just wanted to say something since I don't feel like working on the massive pile of stuff here at the office.
I was surprised how much I liked them. A friend recommended them a year or so ago and I had no interest after hearing about the general plot. Decided to pick it up since it was cheap on my kindle and loved it! I think it helped that I was on school vacation and could take the 1.5 weeks to really be engrossed in it. Totally not something I would read- I'm much more of a light, chick lit kind of reader with some more dramatic stuff mixed in.
The movie comes out March 23. Since it's 3 days after my due date I might be stuck seeing it on DVD, but either way I'm looking forward to it. The cast seems interesting and I think I read somewhere that the author wrote the screenplay so that gives me hope that it will be as true to the book as possible.
Ok "tragic" probably wasn't the right word. I just re-read my sentence and it sounds a bit ridiculous haha I am really bad with words so don't take that for whether you would read it or not!
I finished the third one a few weeks ago and was really surprised at how much I loved them. Most of my girlfriends back home had read them, so I caved and joined the club. I don't remember the last time I read YA books and I had my doubts...I couldn't get into any of the other recent popular YA series' people have been reading. I can't wait for the movie in March - I think the cast looks great!
I'd use tragic to describe the Hunger Games but not without the word elements right next to it. There are some tragic things that happen but it's not at all similar to the level of tragedy of, say, The Kite Runner.
I loved the books! I liked seeing how the relationships between the characters evolved and got totally caught up in the books for that reason alone. Add in the plot twists and turns and I was hooked. I am looking forward to the movie!
I loved the series... but hated the epilogue of the third book... it kind of ruined it a bit for me... I would have been perfectly fine just imagining what their life would be like in the future... kind of like the epilogue at the end of the Harry Potters....
I am so excited for the movies!
The other book series I liked that is a little similar is the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld. There are 4 books in the series, Uglies, Pretties, Specials, and Extras. I loved the first 3, the last was just uh for me.
Yes, this!! Thank you...I joke to DH that I need an interpreter to explain things sometimes.
