Oh, what the hell. Ask me anything!

I'm stuck at home on my couch, and I've never done one of these before.  Have fun!

Re: Oh, what the hell. Ask me anything!

  • Did did you call your X pangenjo or whatever you used to call him?  Is that Spanish for douchbag or is it his name?

  • Pendejo is Spanish for 'b*stard/douchebag.'
  • I didn't realize until a post yesterday or day before that you had a SO, tell me about him.

  • jaksmom...What do you want to know?

    This is awesome!

  • How long were you  married?  How old are you?  How long have you been divorced (or separated if not divorced)?  How did you meet your SO?

  • Huh...I thought pendejo was more equivalent to "jerk."  Good to know!

    What's your heritage?

I'll elaborate on Jaksmom's question...how did you meet him?  What does he do?  How long have you been dating?  What does he look like?  What's your favorite thing about him?  Are you official/exclusive?

  • And what kind of dancing do you do?
  • I was married just over 3 years, and separated for about a year of that.  I'm 25.  I've been separated since early February of 2011, and divorced since early December.  I met my SO on OkCupid, and our first date was coffee in my favorite bookstore.

How long have you 2 been dating? What is his personality like? How is he different than the other guys you went out with?

It can be.  In the Spanish I was taught, it wasn't a word you used without raising a few eyebrows.  Gotta love the good Chilean Spanish!

    What's your heritage?

I'm Irish, German, and Native American.  I'm a pale blonde woman who speaks fluent Spanish.

I met him on OkCupid, and our first date was in a coffee shop at my favorite bookstore.  He works for the state of Louisiana.  We've been dating about a month.  He's tall, blonde, green-eyed, and just slightly less pale than I am.  I love how I can just be myself around him, and he's as big a nerd as I am.  We just click.  And yes, we're exclusive.

We've been dating about a month.  He's sweet, old-fashioned, very Southern, very quiet, intelligent, funny, and thoughtful.  He's different from the other guys that I've gone out with in the respect that he's secure in who he is, genuine, thoughtful, and suits me perfectly.

I've done a bit of everything since the age of two.  I started out with ballet and tap, added jazz, then added modern, military, lyrical, kick, ballroom, and hip hop.  I did competitive dance for four years, and quit to concentrate on school once I went to college.

Very cool!  I tried ballet and tap at about age 5 and quit after one class (switched to gymnastics).  Took a ballroom dancing class in college, then signed up for another one while XFI and I were engaged, and never stopped!  I've tried hip hop, and I'm TERRIBLE at it lol.  If you want a challenge, try belly dance!  I found all the isolations to be challenging, but rewarding...it's a very alluring dance!

Was your XH Chilean?  Or how did you learn Spanish?

No, XH was/is Italian, and speaks exactly zero words of that language (though I understand it for the most part, both spoken and written.  Odd).

I started picking up the language as a kid growing up in Texas.  I took classes from a local teacher when I was a kid, and then took it in middle and high school.  I majored in Spanish language/literature in college, and got my master's degree in it.  One of my favorite professors and thesis director is from Chile, so he pounded that dialect into my head, though I was also heavily exposed to Argentine, Puerto Rican, Mexican, Colombian, and Castilian Spanish.
