If you were voting today

In a republican primary (assuming open primaries of course, so everyone can vote) or caucus today, who would you vote for? Rationale is always appreciated.

Re: If you were voting today

  • Ron Paul. He is consistent, interesting and has some good ideas.

I think some of this stances are unfortunate, but I like him best.

  • You mean, if forced at gunpoint? Probably Huntsman.

  • The Republican ticket is just silly this year. Really, is this the best that you have? It's like they're not even trying.

ETA: I don't know too much about Huntsman at all.

ETAx2: I just googled him and he kind of looks like the donkey in Shrek.

  • Huntsman, by far. He's the most reasonable in the field, imo.

I mean in an effort to have some voice in case one of them wins. Would you pick the candidate you could most live with or pick the one you think would be most easily defeated by Obama?

Bonus question: would you consider voting in a democratic primary against Obama? Completely futile? There are 4 other candidates in my state as of now.

  • If I'm voting for someone I would not be absolutely mortified to see in the White House, probably Huntsman.  But I'd probably vote for Santorum, because I think he's least likely to win the whole thing.

  • Ahh. Well Huntsman would be my for-real pick if I were to ever vote Republican. If we're talking crazy, well...there's a lot to pick from.

That would be my vote as well.

  • Huntsman. He's actually who I'd prefer to have as president.

  • Huntsman, but mostly because of his hair.

I would never vote for the candidate I thought was least likely to win against the opposition (no matter how BSC they were) because I don't trust the rest of the country enough not to elect them.

  • I'd have to do more research but I'd consider voting for Huntsman in the general election. I'd vote against Obama in a primary. The only reasons I'll vote for Obama is no better Republican option and the idea of the first black president being a one termer is sad.

  • It depends. Do you want a republican to have a chance to win against Obama? Then maybe Romney? Do you want Obama to win? Then Santorum or Perry.

  • If Huntsman ever had a shot I would have voted for him, but his ship never left the dock.

I will be voting for Romney in the VA primary because as much as he is the Ken doll of the GOP Primary, I think he does have the best chance against Obama.

You could not pay me enough to vote for Santorum, or Ron Paul.  Ron Paul is an isolationist that I truly think would harm this country by some of his policy beliefs.  I also think that some of his past statements are really what he believes.  Santorum, I dislike from days of working with his Senate office and from the stories of his former staff.

If I was forced by fire blown up my ass, Huntsman because I haven't heard anything offensive or stupid out of his mouth yet. I might've missed it but I haven't been made aware. He seems the least evangelical and most sane of the bunch.

Yes, that's my fear as well.
