I know we talked about starting a weekly post, and since I weigh myself on Wednesday mornings (far enough from the weekends to detox, not too far into the week - I know, it's odd), I thought I would kick things off. How are folks doing? Have you assessed yourself yet post holidays? Any goals this week?
Re: Healthy Eating 2012
I don't have a weight loss goal - My goals this week are to pack my lunch for the remainder of the week, and to go to Zumba once.
To facilitate the first goal, I made some barley lentil soup last night that I'll have tomorrow and friday, and today I brought some lime chicken slaw and some tortilla chips/guacamole.

Have you tried fitday.com? I really like it. I've never tried sparkpeople.com but I know others like it.
I am detoxing this week. Since my dad's passing in October, I have gained 10 lbs. I really went off the deep end. So, I am limiting carbs, refined sugars, etc.
Goals
* Stay between 50-75 carbs a day.
- How: I am tracking with caloriecount.com but am not loving it (it judges the food you eat by giving it an A, B, C, D, or F rating!).
* Drink more water, less diet soda
- How: DH bought me this Hello Kitty water dispenser, which holds 64 oz. Drinking that daily
- Limiting myself to one diet soda a day (eeck!)
I start the gym next week.
I used SparkPeople before and I am going to pull up my old account and see if I like that better. But I will check out FitDay as well, thanks!
You could also try myfitnesspal.com which I am currently using. They also have an app.
I have not started so far since we still have houseguests through the weekend so working out in the morning in my living room is a no go with my 21yo nephew sleeping there. I am hoping to start the exercise portion next Monday but I am trying to start watching what I eat (within reason while we have a guest) this week.
I gained 2 pounds over the holidays, which I don't think is all that bad really. DH and I started up Weight Watchers again yesterday. I am mad they decreased my daily points, but we will see how it all works out. I typically weigh in on Friday mornings, but started everything on Monday this week, so I'm not expecting too much in terms of a loss.
Mostly my goal is to track everything and get back to the gym regularly after the hectic days before the holidays and then traveling.
My Food Blog
LOVE a Wed check-in idea.
My main goal is weight loss. I know it should be health not weight centered but whatever. I'm vain. I put on 25 lbs during the trainwreck that was our TTC journey the last few years. I've lost almost 15 and this year want to:
LOVING a weekly check in
My goal is to lose 50 lbs by the middle of 2012 (6 months). I'm working with a nutritionist to stay on track with calories, carbs, etc along with doing morning boot camp daily. (yes, 5:30 and 20degree weather comes early and cold).
Post holiday: From Sunday to current: I'm down 10 lbs but then again I've been sick with a nasty case of the stomach bug so once I start eating I'll gain that back I'm sure.
Post holiday fitness: I've managed to miss the last 3 days of boot camp due to this stomach bug that hit me. My plan is go back tomorrow provided dinner will "agree with me".
I gained 7 lbs over the holidays, so now I'm four pounds over my WW goal.
BAD Artslvr.
I've already inquired about the next WW @ Work session which starts Jan. 17.
Two small goals to start out with this week:
I got into a huge snacking-between-meals habit over the holidays. No more snacks between meals.
Also going to save the bourbon for the weekends - and if I have alcohol during the week with dinner it'll be beer or wine.
The BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) is to lose 10 pounds by March 24, my aunt's wedding. But I'll start with the above small steps first.
i ran 1.5 miles last night and did a weight work out. i tracked all my food in WW (even the damn hershey kisses i ate at my desk).
running again tonight and doing good on tracking today so far.
we are hitting the grocery store this weekend for a fresh food replenish, i want to use up what we have and start sunday fresh. i love love love love the mexican style WW zero point soup that i doctor up with shredded chicken, cheese, etc (and count those points). so i aim to make some of that this weekend.
my "by next week" goal is to just eat more veggies....even if frozen.
I havent gotten on a scale yet. I dont tend to make that type of goal.
I am giving up sodas and so far that is going okay.
I am still having caffeine though with tea etc.
I also want to give up a lot of fried foods like limit it to once a week. No fries, wings, etc.
in the spirit of DMuppet's post yesterday, my "to be" goal is to feel better about my body. So "to do" that, I walked 4 miles on the treadmill last night (and then worked for three hours and had a glass of wine for dinner so I think I cancelled myself out). I aim to walk 4 miles every other day (every day would be better, of course, but I am aiming for realistic). I ate fairly well today (yogurt for breakfast, leftover spaghetti for lunch, 2 Cuties for snack), and came home and had ramen noodle soup for dinner (like I was in college again). It's so damned cold out, it's all I wanted. I've had a peeload of water since I got home, too, trying to avoid having the wine until John gets home.
Like Artslvr, I am all about the snacking so if I can think fast enough and get a(-nother) travel cup sized tea (i drink about 5 a day), or water, at work, I can avoid the snacks. (And the caffeine moves me along so I don't think as much about being hungry.) I have never been a good water drinker so it's naive to think that's going to change all of a sudden.
More fresh fruit and veggies in my diet this week -- my goal. Off to eat an apple now... that'll get me through till bedtime.
"What is a week-end?"
Feed Me!**
I know I am behind on the post, will catch up next week as Wednesdays are my weigh in day for the same reason! I really need this since I just got back from New Orleans where I over indulged on eating and drinking for the last five days, I was back up 4 or 6 pounds between the holidays and this trip.
I did manage to stay active on the trip at least and plan to run tomorrow. I am trying to replace the sugar I am now addicted to thanks to the holidays with sweets over the next week and keep trying to burn the calories and stay in my planned calorie intake. I have used Sparkpeople for years and love it!
