Suggestions for a 4 year old

My nephew's birthday is this month and I'm trying to figure out what to get him.  We got him a yearly museum pass for Christimas, so I want to get him an actual gift he can open for his birthday.  Any recommendations?  I have no idea what he's into these days.

Re: Suggestions for a 4 year old

  • Connor loves comic book Heros (captain America, spiderman, Thor, iron man, wolverine, the hulk) like woah.

He still loves anything car/truck related. Don't get a wall-mount hot wheels track or his mom may give it to her dental hygienist rather than destroy the paint on the wall though.

Toy story is still pretty popular too.

For Christmas Santa brought Connor hungry hungry hippos and a remote control car (from radio shack, it flips over when it gets to a wall, only forward and back so it's pretty preschooler friendly).

  • no! the hot wheels on the walls is freaking awesome!  so much fun.

evan loves anything star wars. i got him a darth vader mask from target that talks and he loves that thing. i also bought him darth vader under roos. they also are great.

legos are always a big hit, as are games to play. he currently loves don't break the ice and zingo. he also wants the zingo 123.

my kid also wanted (and got) the olivia house that turns into a pirate ship as well. though i realise that not most boys would be into that.

and if he likes sports, i would suggest a soccer net and a soccer ball or a t-ball set for outside.

Connor actually wanted that Olivia pirate ship thing when he saw it on a commercial too.

There was no way that track was going on my wall to get ripped off by a little boy playing with/on it.  I was kind of irritated that someone gave it to him without asking if I minded in the first place.

its the 3m strips...and they hold really well!

my dad asked for a list for e for christmas and when i told him the olivia house he was all "ummm...huh? are you sure he wants it?" but he really likes to play with it.

  • Yeah, when my 19 year old brother tried to remove something hung on the wall with 3M strips (carefully), it removed paint down to drywall (and some of that). I'm not trusting a four year old not to rip it off without understanding.
  • They're renters, so I wouldn't get anything that attached to the walls just in case.

Thanks for the suggestions!  I'm pooling together a bunch of possibilities for my H to choose from.  I'm also throwing in the Fraggle Rock series box set because every kid should watch that show.

if my kid rips it off i'll just beat his ass*.
