MrsReem and others who do major meal planning

Has anyone ever tried http://www.e-mealz.com/  ?   My DH is looking into the whole Dave Ramsey phenomenon and that website is suggested by him.. Its $5-$7/month and it comes up with recipes, gives you the grocery list and for certain stores, even tells you the prices.. You can also pick low carb, low fat or gluten free meal plans.. Seems worth the money to not have to come up with meal plans on my own but wanted to know if any of you had used it or had another website that will essentially do the work for me?

  • I don't have any experience but I just took a quick look and this seems pretty awesome.  I think I'm going to try it out for a week - I especially like that it has Healthy Options.  Thanks for sharing!

  • I rarely can do anything that plans my meals for me because I'm not a picky eater but we tend to eat a certain way, so we'd only end up liking about half of the meals. The closest thing I do is follow a few blogs that eat the way we do and use some of the recipes out of their menu posting each week.

Sounds like a good deal though.

  • I did it for a few months about this time last year. I was just in a rut with my cooking and the hardest part of meal planning for me is thinking of things to make so this made it easy.

You get 7 meals in each week's plan and with our family we usually ended up making about 4 of them (accounting for pizza nights, takeout or leftovers). The recipes are really easy to follow and I thought they were all really good. You can also do it for a bit and just save your menus for future use. I think you can also choose your family's size when downloading the week's menu but even with the 2 people plan it seemed like a lot of food so sometimes you have to watch your grocery list so you don't end up buying and absurd amount of something.

I should do this again....I would really recommend it.

  • I had looked into this a while back and decided against it, but was actually just complaining over the weekend about how we rotate the same ten meals over and over and over again!  I decided this post was a nudge to actually sign up so I took the plunge.
