OBGYN Recommendation

Since I just moved back, I am looking for a good OBGYN.  I used to have one here, but wasn't 100% pleased with her.  I am in Arvada, so I would like to see someone relatively close.

A little background: I was previously diagnosed with cervical cancer, have been in remission for almost 2 1/2 years now (hooray)!  I also have poly cystic ovarian syndrome, and endometriosis.  So I have quite a history and have been trying to conceive, with no luck :(

I have been having bad pain recently, so I am looking to see a Dr. sooner than later.

So any and all advice or suggestions are welcome.

TIA Ladies!

Re: OBGYN Recommendation

  • I'm sorry for your troubles and pain.

I could be wrong, but I saw someone at Westside Woman's Care in Wheat Ridge who was on the 5280 docs list once.  She was probably around 45-50 yrs old and really nice...wish I could remember her name.

Are you united with the CCOKCs?

  • First, boo for cancer but yay for remission! I *loved* my OB when I was diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy, but he's through Kaiser, so he probably wouldn't work for you (plus he's in Boulder). But on the off-chance, it's Dr. Kerr-Layton with Kaiser.

Good luck and I wish you well on all fronts.

  • I am also in Arvada and I go to Midtown OBGYN at Rose and see Dr. Offerdahl. It isn't the closest but I love my dr. I have PCOS also with a few other issues and my Dr. is extremely understanding and helpful. Before there I went to westside women's on 80th and kipling and the women's health associates at st. Anthonys. I liked the dr's at both but I found they were not very knowledgable about PCOS. There is also a good Dr. At P/SL, Kirsten Williams and I have heard good things about Rose women's care on 38th and Wolff but I think they might just have midwives. Sorry I don't know of anyone closer, hope you find someone soon.

  • Thank you ladies, I will look into both places.

Shanbrite2, thanks for the well wishes.  I am sorry to hear that you were diagnosed too.....I know the pain it causes so I wish you well too!

  • I see Dr. Ganter at Associates in Women's Health.  they have offices at Lutheran and Denver West (I-70 and the Denver West exit).  so far she's been great.

  • I have a few friends who go to Westside Women's Care and really like them.   I see Associates in Women's Health, who have offices next to Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge and also in Golden near CO Mills.  I also really like them and they are a pretty typical OBGYN practice with four female doctors and a NP on staff so you might have good luck getting in with someone soon.  Before I got pregnant, I saw Dr. Schoen for my annual exams and I really like her (although Dr. Jones and all the other doctors are great, too).

Thank you!  Looks like I might have to travel a bit further (which I am willing to for the right care) from some of the suggestions.  I will do some research on all your recommendations tonight!  Thanks!

  • I used to go to Assosiates in Womens Health, but my Dr. (Dr. Serrahn) moved to Midtown OBGYN at Rose Medical Center.  Since my Dr. is on Maternity leave, I have seen a few of the other Dr's at Midtown and I have been super happy with all of them.  It is worth the drive from Arvada!

I saw Schoen once as a follow up.  their offices are very caring esp when I had my m/c.

Denverpair - I would call a few of the offices that were recommended and explain what you have going on and ask if they have the expertise to handle that.  Most of them have websites maybe you can search and see if they have experience in your area.

I love Dr Rokosz.  She does not practice OB though only Gyn.
