Stupid underwire

I prefer to wear bras with underwire in them, I always have, but when one or both of those little wires start to poke out the side it drives me nuts.  Usually I don't care enough about the bra to try to fix it, so I just toss the bra or pull out the wires and use it as an 'at home' bra...but I just bought this bra a couple months ago and it was kind of expensive, so I was wondering, do any of you have a trick on how to fix this annoying problem?  Should I just try to sew the little hole that it is coming out of, or will it just push through that spot as well?

RIP new bra?  Crying

Re: Stupid underwire

  • Oh I feel you! I hate that too.I have no solutions though...sorry!
  • Usually my solution is sticking my hand down my shirt and pushing the metal back. Attractive, I know. I had this issue yesterday. Not really a good solution tho. Embarrassed I don't really have the option of not buying underwire since I am pretty busty, and need some major support

Maybe glue would work? Like hot glue or wash safe glue?

  • I've had that problem before lol! and it's really a pain in the bust.  I've done a quick fix of just stitching it closed were it's popping out at. but used thick button thread on it to make sure it stayed where it belongs...

This or stick a piece of felt inside and then stitch back up. The felt would make it harder for the wire to poke back out.

Thanks everyone.  I think I'll try sewing it tonight and sew an extra piece of fabric (or felt if I can find some around the house) to make it more durable.  This bra was like $45 which I know isn't the most expensive bra ever, but I just refuse to throw it away after only having it a couple of months.

Good idea!  I hate when that happens, and it always seems to poke through again within a day or two.

A couple of years ago I started going to a bra place and getting measured properly and buying the really expensive bras.  I've never had it happen to one of them, but they're so expensive that I'd march right back in and demand a new one Wink
