I need help finding a good cruise that goes to Italy and Greece. Any reviews of any ship would be great. Thanks
Re: Best Italy/Greece Cruise
This is a very subjective question.
We sailed on the Crown Princess out of Venice and we loved it! We chose it based on itinerary. In addition to Venice we also stopped in Rhodes, Corfu, Olympia, Athens, Mykonos, Santorini, Dubrovnik, Ephesus, Naples, and ended in Rome.
Thank you! Any question regarding travel is pretty subjective.
We did a Royal Car. cruise also out of Venice (spend at least an extra day there if possible). Stopped at Bari, Italy; Corfu, Greece; Mykonos, Greece; Piraeus (Athens), Greece; Dubrovnik, Croatia; Return to Venice, Italy.
How many days will you have? Which destination do you want to spend more time in? Its hard to find a cruise that is evenly split between Greece/Italy. Most of the Greek or Eastern Mediterranean Cruises will only have 1 or 2 days tops in Italy and the rest will be Croatia, Turkey, etc.
One idea is do a 7 day cruise out of Venice that hits the Greek Islands...(I like NCL's itinerary which goes to Corfu, Santorini, Mykonos and Olympia) , and spend a time in Italy pre or post cruise hitting Rome and/or Florence or Amalfi.
Yea another pro to the idea of a comb land trip in Italy and the cruise to the Greek Islands is that many of the Italy ports of call Livorno (Florence/Pisa) and Rome are a bit far from the actual cities, so if you see them by ship you are using a portion of your one day in port traveling to/from. Whereas the Greek islands are fairly small so you can cover a lot more in a day. If you do Italy by land you can utilize your time more efficiently and you get to have the experience of Italy at night! which you rarely get to on a cruise itinerary.
Also have you taken a cruise before? Because if not doing a 10-12 day cruise is bit of an adjustment for a first cruise. I did a 12 day Mediterranean as my first cruise and while i loved it, I was so ready to get off the boat by the end...and now my max is 7 days!
