Did everyone have a good, safe NYE/NYD? Is anyone still nursing a hangover?
How's the week looking?
We had a quiet new year's eve, though I drank too much. We had two bottles of wine and a bottle of champagne. And went to bed at 11:30. New Year's day was spent on the couch, in pjs, with lots of greasy food.Yesterday, I spent the day cleaning/grocery shopping/domesticating in preparation for re-entering the Real World.
Today is my first day at work in 12 days, and it is rough. I don't know who was more upset this morning about me leaving - me, or the dog. On the plus side, there's a long weekend at the end of next week. Something to look forward to!
Re: Happy Tuesday!
Bah humbug! I can't believe you get another long weekend again so soon! Completely jealous.
We had a low-key but good NYE/NYD. My parents hosted a hotpot dinner for a subset of the extended family and it was delicious. We headed home and watched the ball drop in our pjs.
NYD was a gloriously lazy day of sleeping in, knitting, playing video games, etc.
Yesterday we ran a bunch of errands and saw the new Mission Impossible. It was a good two hours of entertainment, though not the best action flick I've seen.
Hope you all had a great one and looking forward to "seeing" you all back here!
Heh, it's the perks of working for a university. Though my husband is on the Fed schedule, and he gets the day off, too. So are you sure you don't have one in the works, too?
That is miserable! I have a hard enough time going from Presidents day to Memorial day.
I too am back at work today after a long break. I'm kind of relieved to be at work again though and back into the regular schedule. The holidays were a lot of driving and sleeping in beds other than my own, and it's nice to be home again.
NYE was very quiet for us. H went to bed early because he had to work early and I stayed up and watched Ghostbusters all night
NYD we had some friends over to hangout and exchange Christmas gifts. It was fun but exhausting!
Yesterday we put away all of the Christmas decorations. My living room looks so naked now. We also went to a couple of local furniture stores to see what they had for cribs but no one had anything. Its was a little disappointing.
I totally could have used an extra, extra day off though!
No hangover here! We were in bed by 12:30 after one glass of champagne. We're so boring sometimes haha
We have begun our moving madness. We have been packing things up and moving them to storage. Oddly enough, even though I packed about a dozen boxes yesterday, the house doesn't look like it has any less stuff. *sigh*
Sounds like a good weekend!
We had a quiet NYE as the ILs were still here, and they are as sedentary as you can get. Had some champagne at midnight and went to bed. No hangover, but I've been drinking all week
The week looks busy. DH just e-mailed his plans for the week, and DD starts swim lessons on Thursday
Our little Irish rose came to us on March 5, 2010
Don't drink the water.

We had a nice, but quiet, NYE. We rang it in with friends, but did it early since we all had the babies! DS hung in there and did GREAT. I think he was just so stimulated by someone's else toys and in someone else's house.
DH and I stayed up to drink a glass of champagne and new year's day was gorgeous and we walked the dogs, DH went on a bike ride, and I cooked some yummy food (pork tenderloin, black eye peas, collards, and chocolate pie).
This is my first day back to work since mid-Dec and it's been hell. Absolute hell.
No kidding. I don't think I made it to 9:30 before I was cursing people out. (Not to their faces, just to their stupid, entitled emails).
NYE was fun. BBR played at First Night and we had a great crowd. Then I rushed home to finish preparing for our NYE party. I was stressing out but everything came together. Dinner was very nice. We had cocktails and wine with dinner. No bubbles which was a shame because I LOVE bubbles!
This is my buche de noel:
(I made the cake but the mushrooms were from Beacon Hill Chocolates.)
NYD was relaxing. We had a lovely brunch at Mistral, then just walked around and relaxed. (Oh, and cleaned up from the NYE party... the down side of using china, bronzeware and nice wine glasses is that I have to hand wash everything!)

Hi everyone! Happy New Year!
I am in a training all week and get to wear comfy clothes, so it is a nice way to ease back into work. I have off for MLK day in two weeks, which I am looking forward to.
NYE we were suppose to go out with some new friends, but we were both under the weather, so we ended up staying in and just having a few beers and junk food. NYD we went to Newport, RI, which I loved. Can't wait to go back in te spring. Yesterday, food shopping then the bar to watch the Winter Classic.
We're signing the lease on a new apartment on Saturday, so we are trying to conserve money right now. The new place gave us 3 months free if we signed right away, so January we are paying 2 rents and a mortgage. Our current lease is up next month, but it is way cheaper to do it this way. This month sucks, but then we have no rent for 3 months, which will help pay down some Christmas gifts. I can't wait to move into the new place. It is brand new, 2 bedroom, exposed brick, beam ceilings, washer/dryer in unit, granite and stainless kitchen, walk-in closet, and in a converted cotton mill. I hate our current place.
Happy New Year!
NYE: We were supposed to hang out at a friend's place, but our cat has been sick since right before Christmas (he's not eating), so we didn't want to leave him. We stayed home, drank a little (too much), and played the Wii until 4am. We had a pretty good time being stuck at home
NYD: Recovered from NYE, almost all day. I slept on the couch that night to be near kitty, since he wouldn't come in the bed.
Monday, I was too concerned about Leo (kitty) and didn't want to wait until the vet opened on Tues., so we took him to the Tuft Vet hospital. He's still there, but we did get to visit him.....not quite sure what is wrong though, but I think he will be Ok.
We had our IVF consult this morning, so the ball is rolling to get approved.
Hello everyone!
My NYE was fun, but involved a bit of overindulgence. Hung out at a bar, then went to an afterparty, followed by a trip to IHOP at 5am (seemed like a good idea at the time!) I didn't fall asleep until well after the sun came up - I haven't had a night like that in a loooong time!
I was actually relieved to get back to work yesterday. I don't think my waist line (or liver) could take anymore vacation
Same here... t&p!!
