nosey noserson neighbors

They have called my H and left messages and one even knocked on the door (he didnt answer) trying to figure out why I am not at the house.

  • Surprise and Hmm and Angry

    That's effing ridiculous.

  • That's ridiculous.  How do you know this?  Are you still speaking to your H?  I don't remember your backstory.

  • If it was me I would probably give a smartass response like "oh I killed her and buried her in the backyard."

Well actually I would want to but with people that nosey I would be affraid the cops would show up at my doorstep.

I called him to let him know I am coming to the house today (I need more of my clothes [I may also try to take a nightstand] and want to visit with my pets).

  • Were you close to them before the split?  I'm good friends with one of my neighbors, and she called to find out what was going on since she saw my XH moving out.

  • We were all friendly. The neighborhood is full of retired persons who are nosey nosersons.

When we first moved to the neighborhood my car died and I had it towed away.  The guy across the street hobbled over and yelled at the tow guy telling him not to repo my car because I am the kind of girl that pays my bills. He even wrote down the license plate of the tow truck.

I came home from work really early one day (I was sick) and one of them called my H to ask why I was home so early.

  • I have a million crazy neighbor stories. A million.

  • Wow. Nosey neighbors can be a blessing and a curse. I would hate stuff like that but the retired old people are the ones who would notice suspicious activity around your house and whatnot. I don't even know my neighbors here.

  • I wouldn't assume the worst of your neighbors.  If they didn't know you had marital problems and didn't see you, they might be assuming that you are in the hospital or have left to take care of a mother/father who was sick and needed help.

My neighbors would do the same thing, and are the type who would bring over food for H / the kids to eat while I was gone, or would visit me at the hospital.

Maybe I'm just a private person, but that would creep me out, unless I had specifically asked them to keep an eye on things.  I'm all for waving at my neighbors and saying hi when I see them out walking, and perhaps even getting together for dinner sometimes, but that seems like a level of familiarity that I would reserve for good friends.
