I was a contractor at the office where I worked through Mr. E's birth, with the understanding that I'd be hired as an employee after my maternity leave. I was contracting through an agency, and my potential employer wanted to avoid paying my contract buyout fee. The buyout fee expires after you've been at a job for 20 weeks, which coincided almost exactly with my due date - so, win-win. They don't pay the fee, I get a maternity leave (albeit unpaid, but that would have happened anyway), and I had a job to come back to after leave.
We found a spot in a daycare, we picked a start date for Mr. E, I e-mailed my boss to let her know when I could come back... and crickets. No response. No idea what's going on and whether I'll have a job in less than three weeks when I was planning to come back. I'm thinking I might "go for a walk" and end up at the office, just to see what's going on. But the lack of response from my boss is less than reassuring.
Anyone need a graphic designer? ![]()
Re: Well that's awesome
That blows!
I did see in a tweet today that Boulder Digital Arts is having a networking powwow tomorrow night for female graphic designers... I'll try to find the link.
ETA: found it! https://www.boulderdigitalarts.com/events/details.php?offering=281

maybe she is so busy becuase you are gone that she cant get back to you in a timely manner...
i def. agree with the drop by with the cute mr. e becuase everyone loves a baby and then you can really guage whats going on.
I hope she was just busy or thought she'd have more time to respond since you are on leave.
Let us know the outcome, I hope it's just a miscommunication right now.
Are you united with the CCOKCs?
