Operation: Be Less Fat, 1/5/12

Hi ladies! I thought I'd post now, I'm afraid I might forget in the morning!  I know I just started a couple days ago, so I'm looking forward to checking in again next week once we've all had a full week of being on track!

1. What did your workouts consist of this week? How often did you work out and for how long?

2. What was your healthiest meal this week? Least healthy?

3. What was your proudest health and fitness moment this week? Least proud?

4. Did you meet your goals for this week? What are your goals for next week?

5. Any new tips you learned this week? Any areas where you need advice?

Re: Operation: Be Less Fat, 1/5/12

  • 1. What did your workouts consist of this week? How often did you work out and for how long? I have been doing p90x and walking with my coworker during our lunch break.

    2. What was your healthiest meal this week? Least healthy? I don't know what my healthiest was...I've been pretty good this week.  My least healthy was Fuddruckers on Monday....a grilled cheese, sweet potato fries, and a sugar cookie!  But it was good :-)

    3. What was your proudest health and fitness moment this week? Least proud? On Saturday and Monday, I did some running (which I haven't done in a while) and was super happy with the pace I was able to set and the distance I was able to go.

    4. Did you meet your goals for this week? What are your goals for next week? This week I just wanted to start eating healthier and I think I succeeded in that.  Next week I want to focus on running a little further.

    5. Any new tips you learned this week? Any areas where you need advice? Nothing new this week!

  • I'm the sad one this week

    1. What did your workouts consist of this week? How often did you work out and for how long? - NOTHING! I have been so tired I haven't been to the gym. Hope to change that next week or even tomorrow.

    2. What was your healthiest meal this week? Least healthy? I'm still eating very healthy for lunch. Fruits, Veggies and dairy. Unhealthy was the fried chicken I picked up Monday.

    3. What was your proudest health and fitness moment this week? Least proud? N/A

    4. Did you meet your goals for this week? What are your goals for next week? Strangely I still lost a pound!!

    5. Any new tips you learned this week? Any areas where you need advice? I just need to get my motivation and fatigue together.

  • 1. What did your workouts consist of this week? How often did you work out and for how long? Mine have been random, I went to the gym one night and did bodyrock at home one night.  I was planning to go to bootcamp tonight but I forgot I have a massage scheduled.  It was a groupon and if I didnt do it tonight I would lose it,  Boo

    2. What was your healthiest meal this week? Least healthy? I have been really healthy pretty much all week except Monday afternoon we had lunch at Chilis with my mom.

    3. What was your proudest health and fitness moment this week? Least proud?

My proudest was last night when my mom asked if I wanted wingstop (one of my faves) if she paid for it.  I told her no, I was about to go cook in about 15 min.  Free food from one of my fave places, I turned it down without even blinking.

Least would be Mondays lunch at chilis, I ate garbage and felt like garbage.

    4. Did you meet your goals for this week? What are your goals for next week? I have met my eating goals as long as I dont eat out any other day since I allow one meal out per week.  Exercise has not been great, but I may do bodyrock when I get home from the massage.

    5. Any new tips you learned this week? Any areas where you need advice? I am seriously loving the whats cooking board on here and pinterest for new healthy ideas.  I just really wish I could work out in the morning because going after work is such a struggle for me.

  • 1. What did your workouts consist of this week? How often did you work out and for how long?

I'm trying to maintain a schedule for myself.  I want to work out M,W, and Saturdays.  On Monday, DH and I took Lola to White Rock Lake and walked for about 20 minutes.  Last night I ran 2 miles in 30 minutes.  That's not so good, but I know it will get better.

    2. What was your healthiest meal this week? Least healthy?

Last night after I ran, we went to Jason's Deli and I ate a Turkey Club lite with a side of fruit.  Worst: I had Taco Bell on Monday, but it made me feel so sick I may never eat Taco Bell again.  Lesson learned.

    3. What was your proudest health and fitness moment this week? Least proud?

Hmm... I am proud of myself for going to the gym and getting in some exercise.  I am least proud of the Taco Bell meal.

    4. Did you meet your goals for this week? What are your goals for next week?

Yes, so far, although I wish I would have ran on Monday, too, instead of just taking a walk.

    5. Any new tips you learned this week? Any areas where you need advice?

Treadmills aren't my favorite, so I'm going to see if there's a track or trail close by where I can do some outdoor running.

  • 1. What did your workouts consist of this week? How often did you work out and for how long?

Boot camp yesterday and today, and I'll do it again in the morning. Yesterday was lots of strength and resistance bands, but today was pretty much jumping/jump roping for an hour and then a 5 minute wall sit. I want to die.

    2. What was your healthiest meal this week? Least healthy?

We had golden mushroom chicken and rice and spinach the other night that was awesome. Right now we're just kind of eating leftovers in our fridge until we go post-holiday grocery shopping. Yesterday we went out for lunch and I had chicken tettrazini at one of my favorite local Italian places. Creamy and delicious, but SO fattening, I'm sure.

    3. What was your proudest health and fitness moment this week? Least proud?

I was proud that we got up and went back to boot camp yesterday after a month of being gone. Might not seem huge, but just going back was huge. My least proud moment was today, recognizing that I can't do a wall sit for a full minute right now. My legs just gave out. I hope to fix that soon.

    4. Did you meet your goals for this week? What are your goals for next week?

My goals for this week were pretty simple: go back to boot camp. Next week, I want to only have 2 cokes all week and drink 64 ounces of water a day.

    5. Any new tips you learned this week? Any areas where you need advice?

Nothing new this week. This morning our trainer took our weight and measured our BMI, and I declined to see both. I have no idea how much I weigh, and I want to stay that way. I AM curious to see if the numbers go down by the end of the month, though. That'd be nice.

  • 1. What did your workouts consist of this week? How often did you work out and for how long?

Not much, actually.  I am adjusting to a dramatically different diet and I am allowing myself this time before I amp up my workouts.   I have done 30DS and walked my dog each day.

    2. What was your healthiest meal this week? Least healthy?

I've done SO well.   Healthiest meal was probably just my shakes I have had every day for breakfast and lunch.    Least Healthy meal was skillet chicken, rice, and broccoli.

    3. What was your proudest health and fitness moment this week? Least proud?

I'm proud of myself for sticking to my diet, and for losing 3.5 pounds already!

    4. Did you meet your goals for this week? What are your goals for next week?

Yes.   Next week, I want to continue with my diet and amp up the workouts significantly.

    5. Any new tips you learned this week? Any areas where you need advice?

    Cuties are delicious snacks!!

  • 1. What did your workouts consist of this week? How often did you work out and for how long?

I did a 31 minute workout on EA Sports Active 2 on Sunday as well as walked for an hour and a half.  Monday I was in so much pain from Sunday that I didn't do anything besides cook dinner, Tuesday night I had a haircut and last night was a late night so I didn't do anything except pick up the house because we have company coming over on Friday.  Tonight I get to run errands.

    2. What was your healthiest meal this week? Least healthy?

I would have to say my enchiladas because that's the most veggie filled thing I've had this week and that's all I remember right now.  It wasn't a meal but our cake was the worst although I did have a hamburger from Braum's the other night but it was the small one.

    3. What was your proudest health and fitness moment this week? Least proud?

About half way through my workout Sunday, I wanted to quit and finish it later but I just took a few minutes of rest and went back.  The only time I've eaten out this week was Tuesday night although I'm going to break that at lunch if I don't end up going home.  Least proud was last night; I was going to work my upper half but dinner took so long to make and by the time we were done eating it was about 8 pm so I didn't do anything.

    4. Did you meet your goals for this week? What are your goals for next week?

I didn't really meet my goals; I missed my Tuesday and Wednesday workout and we will see what tonight holds.  But I've only eaten out once and I have made good use of our leftover's.

Next week: workout 4 times, no eating out for lunch and have a serving or 2 of veggies for lunch and supper.

    5. Any new tips you learned this week? Any areas where you need advice?

I can't think of anything at the moment and need to get to work ;)

  • 1. What did your workouts consist of this week? How often did you work out and for how long?

I started walking & jogging with my mom after work.  We've gone the past two days for 30 mins a piece.

    2. What was your healthiest meal this week? Least healthy?

Least healthy would probably be the flatbread cheeseburger melts that we made last night.  We're trying to use up all of the not as healthy food that we have in the fridge.  My healthiest was probably subway.

    3. What was your proudest health and fitness moment this week? Least proud?

Most proud would be buying more fruits and veggies at the store yesterday.  Least proud would be not getting out and exercising on Sunday or Monday when I didn't have any other plans for the day.

    4. Did you meet your goals for this week? What are your goals for next week?

I didn't set very many goals other than to do some sort of activity for 3-4 days.  If I workout tonight and Saturday, I'll meet that.  Goals for next week are to eat all the fruits and veggies for snacks and work out 3-4 days again.

    5. Any new tips you learned this week? Any areas where you need advice?

Finding some great recipes on Pinterest thanks to you guys.  Need to shop for and try them out.

  • I'm a little confused as to whether the "week" started Monday or last Thursday--I can't remember.  So I'm going to assume it started Monday.

    1. What did your workouts consist of this week? How often did you work out and for how long?  So far 90 minutes--45 yesterday and 45 today, but I plan to work out 45 minutes tomorrow and 2 hours on Saturday.

    2. What was your healthiest meal this week? Probably the Green Monsters I've been drinking in the morning.  I made low fat ziti with spinach last night.

Least healthy? I had a Kolache from the Czech Stop on Monday that Ben brought home from Austin!

    3. What was your proudest health and fitness moment this week? Realizing I didn't gain any weight over the holidays!

Least proud?  I skipped my Monday workout--I had not slept in late one day of Christmas vacation so I allowed myself to take it easy.

    4. Did you meet your goals for this week? What are your goals for next week?  My goal is to make one new healthy recipe a week until I find several that Ben and I both like.  If he doesn't like them, I'll just eat them and make him something else.

    5. Any new tips you learned this week?  I am loving Pinterest for recipes and made a Healthy Eating board for them.

Any areas where you need advice? My biggest downfalls are probably snacking and portion control so those are my areas to work on.

Thanks for the tip!  What is the diet you are doing (sorry if you said already, I obviously missed it).

  • I love reading everyone's accomplishments!

    1. What did your workouts consist of this week? How often did you work out and for how long?  I have not worked out at all, because I've been sick.  But, I did do a plank last night and again this morning.  Baby steps, right?

    2. What was your healthiest meal this week? Least healthy?   Healthiest was last night - shake n bake pork chops, a small serving of rice, and green beans & potatoes.  It doesn't sound that healthy, but my portion control was good, and I never eat green veggies, so that was an improvement.  Least healthy would probably be the brisket tacos on Tuesday... although, I only ate 5 chips, and just a tiny bit of rice & beans to help compensate.

    3. What was your proudest health and fitness moment this week? Least proud?  Proudest is that I didn't gain any weight over the holidays, and also that my work pants are getting really loose even though I haven't lost any weight!  I've been sick, so I'm exempting myself from the "less proud" question, because it would be related to being lethargic.

    4. Did you meet your goals for this week? What are your goals for next week?  My goal for the last three weeks or so has been to not gain any weight, without tracking my calories at all, and I've succeeded in that.  My goal for the next week is to fit in some kind of toning exercise every day, even if it's just for a couple of minutes.

    5. Any new tips you learned this week? Any areas where you need advice?  I'd like to know how you stay motivated to eat healthy when coworkers want to go to lunch - I am horrible at saying no, and once I get somewhere, I'm bad about not making good choices.

  • Stephie - I am trying out this Monavie RVL program that they promote at boot camp.  It's not something I would do long term, but I am doing it this month to break old (bad) eating habits during the week and get a jump start.

It is a protein/nutrition shake and supplement (no caffeine or stimulants) in the morning, half a snack bar mid morning, a shake and supplement at lunch, and the other half of the snack bar mid afternoon.   Then just eat dinner as normal.

The program is pretty good so far, I am not hungry during the day at all.

I did something similar once in the past with success, and I have kept the weight from that off for years now.  (I used to weigh about 20 pounds more than I do now)

  • Oh, Ok, thanks Tiffany.  I was just curious.

Angie, I have found that there is almost always a healthy option when eating out.  But I admit that alot of times, if I overindulge, I just eat something really light for dinner to compensate.  Not the best advice--better to find somethng that is healthy on the menu.  And there have also been times that I have just said no to secretary lunches if I am really trying to stay on track and know I will be tempted.

Another trick I have used when eating out is to ask for half of the meal to be served, and half to be boxed up to go.  That way there is less chance of overeating.

I am doing something kind of similar in that I am doing it for a short period of time (not sustainable) starting next week to jump start my habits and tastebuds in the right direction.  It is exactly what I did before when I lost 40lbs, so I am hoping it will work again.  Mine is fairly restrictive, but you still get in a good amount of calories and it gets your eating squeaky clean.

  • Also, for any ladies interested, Jays bootcamp is doing a short 30 minute beginners workout and nutrition thing this Sat morning at 9:15 if interested.
  • I just found a recipe for a whole herbed (skinless) chicken in the crockpot which I am going to make Sunday (with potatoes and carrots).  I also found a recipe for crock pot brussel sprouts and since I have 2 crockpots, I am going to make those too.  I can't wait to see how it comes out.

  • 1. What did your workouts consist of this week? How often did you work out and for how long?

So far, I have only worked out once this week, but I should still be able to get in the number of workouts I wanted to. When I went on Tuesday, I did the elliptical for 35 minutes and then about 30 minutes of weights.

    2. What was your healthiest meal this week? Least healthy?

The healthiest was probably dinner last night - pork loin roast, braised cabbage, apple sage chutney and baked sweet potato. The least healthiest was probably lunch at Del Taco yesterday, lol.

    3. What was your proudest health and fitness moment this week? Least proud?

The proudest was getting through my workout (and even going) on Tuesday. My least proud is skipping the workout yesterday and today.

    4. Did you meet your goals for this week? What are your goals for next week?

I haven't met my goals for this week yet, but I think I will still be able to!

    5. Any new tips you learned this week? Any areas where you need advice?

Angie - The thing that works best for me when eating out is to scope out the menu before going. Most places have nutrition info online, so I'll pick 1-3 better items to choose from before I even leave, that way I'm not looking at the whole menu once I get there.
